Narcotics War: Montreal exports its street gangs to Quebec City

Six of the eight gangs whose presence in Quebec City is recognized by the police were born in the metropolis

Six of the eight street gangs whose presence in the National Capital is now recognized by the police, alongside the BFM of the boss Dave "Pic" Turmel, are based in Montreal, where they first originated.

"Our intelligence service has established that we currently have eight street gangs that have members on our territory," Captain Martin Soucy of the Quebec City Police Service told our Investigation Office.

We got the list of these eight gangs. In addition to the BFM, the best known are:

The Profit Boyz, also called Profit Kollectaz, a Montreal gang associated with the Reds founded in 2012 in the Rivière-des-Prairies and Montreal-North areas. "Pic" Turmel maintains links with some of their members.

The Zone 43 also form a gang of red allegiance, from Montreal-North, but rival of the Profit Boyz. These two gangs are recognized as having strongly contributed to the increase in armed violence in Montreal since 2019.

Arab Power, a gang associated with the Middle Eastern underworld in Montreal and Laval, has been talked about since 2014 in the narcotics market and in the field of extortion. Its alleged leaders, including Youness Aithaqi, nicknamed "Frérot", and Sylvain Kabbouchi, manage to conduct their criminal cases, even if they are behind bars.

The VLY BOYZ appeared in the Villeray, Saint-Michel and Parc-Extension neighborhoods of Montreal in 2018. Involved in narcotics, fraud and pimping, its members use hip-hop and music videos to show off.

The 24 Gang, born in Laval in 2020, is distinguished by the purple bandanas worn by its members.

The Rolling 90's are associated with the Blues and were born in western Montreal. Their alleged leader, Marckens Vilme, is incarcerated in Ontario for the murder of a Hells Angels.

Street gangs are "expanding" across the country and covet criminal markets dominated by bikers or the mafia, according to the Canadian Criminal Intelligence Service in its report on organized crime in Canada in 2024.
