According to Kuijpers, the criminal from Schiedam had himself shot dead by his own bodyguards to avoid years of imprisonment in an American prison.

Ebben did not want to go to jail for fifty years
According to his lawyer Kuijpers Ebben would have asked his own four security guards to shoot him dead. "He knew that the American investigation service DEA wanted him and outside that parking garage Mexican marines were waiting for him. Then he would go to jail for fifty or sixty years.
