LAMEZIA TERME Ever closer and more profitable relationships. A synergy that has become increasingly alarming over the last few years, thanks to the numerous operations and subsequent arrests that have opened an ever deeper breach in the links between the Calabrian 'ndrangheta clans and the various Cosa Nostra families beyond the Strait of Messina . Relationships reflected in the large quantities of drugs discovered, intercepted and seized that have given investigators the dimension - albeit partial - of an increasingly large and recognized shared business.
The arrests
A reconstruction that finds confirmation in what emerged in the latest investigation by the Palermo Anti-Mafia District, which today executed an arrest warrant for 181 people on suspicion of crime . A massive operation carried out since dawn today in the heart of Palermo and the suburbs, with the use of over 1,200 Carabinieri. A blitz that allowed the decapitation, thanks to the investigation by the Carabinieri of the investigative unit, of the districts of Tommaso Natale-San Lorenzo, Porta Nuova, Pagliarelli and Bagheria, while the military of the anti-crime section investigated the clan of Santa Maria di Gesù. And the names are "excellent". There are Tommaso Lo Presti (class of '75) known as “the slob”, considered the head of the Porta Nuova district, Nunzio Serio (class of 1977) , regent of the Tommaso Natale district, Guglielmo Rubino, from Palermo, class of '77, regent of the Santa Maria di Gesù district and Cristian Cinà (class of '88) , considered the head of the Borgo Vecchio family.
The capture in Germany of Emanuele Cosentino
Contacts and business with Emanuele Cosentino
In confirmation of these reports, today's maxi-investigation also involves a Calabrian, considered by investigators to be one of Nunzio Serio's main references in the importation of large quantities of cocaine and hashish from Calabria to Sicily . This is Emanuele Cosentino, considered a member of the Gallico ndrangheta clan of Palmi. Born in 1988 in Palmi, Cosentino - as claimed by the prosecutors of the Palermo DDA - after being released from prison from the Parma penitentiary institute on 22 October 2023, would have first gone to Nice (on 16 January 2024) and, subsequently, to Barcelona (on 24 January 2024) while on 2 December 2023 and 28 January 2024 Cosentino would have gone to Palermo. In the Sicilian capital he had the opportunity to reunite with both Serio brothers.
On the run and captured in Germany
Emanuele Cosentino has a criminal record of the utmost respect, a "dangerous individual" as investigators described him a few years ago, intent on emerging and climbing the criminal hierarchy of Palmi. To the point of creating a dense network of contacts and friendships abroad: Spain, France and especially Germany. It is here that on March 2, 2018 his fugitive status will end, with his capture in Saarbrücken, a city in Saar, the southwestern state bordering France. At the time, Emanuele Cosentino had been wanted since 2013 because he had been sentenced on appeal to 7 years in prison for mafia association and extortion. In short, despite being just over thirty, he was already considered a 'ndrangheta boss. What betrayed him were his relationships with his family but above all those with his wife, Laura Nasso. It was thanks to the monitoring of their conversations that the Carabinieri were able to identify Cosentino and, above all, the woman's departure from Palmi to Germany.
The ties with the Belloccos and the death of Totò
The name of Emanuele Cosentino will come up for another circumstance, this time linked to the murder of the scion of the 'ndrangheta clan, Totò Bellocco. He is also in the apartment on Via Genova, under wiretaps by the Flying Squad and the Guardia di Finanza of Milan, together with his relatives, Berto Bellocco (Antonio's brother), his wife and daughter and his mother-in-law, Emanuela Gentile. As reconstructed by the Milanese investigators, in fact, the victim's relatives, after the murder, go up to Lombardy and, on the morning of September 5, try to have a meeting in the prison of Saluzzo with Totò's older brother, Domenico Bellocco. Emanuele Cosentino will be the one to inform him of Antonio's death. On the same day, the investigators intercept a conversation between Antonio Bellocco's mother-in-law, Emanuela Gentile and Berto to whom the woman asks for "revenge", to "not give up" and, therefore, to react.
