Paraguay: 57 tons of marijuana bound for Brazil seized
Paraguay has seized a historic amount of marijuana: 57,000 kilos, a record for the country. This happened after a short gunfight with members of a criminal organization that is said to be led by “El Macho”, a known criminal who is on the run. Four people were arrested.

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña visited the scene where a number of trucks had been stopped by special forces, not far from the border with Brazil. The marijuana had been grown in Paraguay and was headed for Brazil's huge market where a lot of weed ("maconha") is smoked.
In addition to the marijuana, firearms, bulletproof vests, ammunition and vehicles were also seized. One of the four suspects was seriously injured, but is now out of danger.

The weed was worth about $22 million in Paraguay, and a little more in Brazil.
Felipe Acosta Riveros, alias “Macho”, is a fugitive and one of the most wanted men in Paraguay, in connection with large-scale drug trafficking.

In November, Dutch police seized 2.5 tons of procaine.
The police in the Netherlands and Trimbos see increasing use in 2024 and criminals confirm that cutting cocaine with procaine is a trend, although the effects on the user market are mainly expected in 2025.
Criminals from the Rotterdam region have turned to the dangerous production of procaine, a cutting agent for cocaine. This is according to the AD. The risks are great: 'A small space is quickly filled with the fumes of acetone.'
Procaine is a synthetic substance that was originally developed as an anesthetic. It crystallizes into a substance that has the same sheen as pure cocaine, making it difficult to distinguish. For criminals, this means a cheap way to increase the amount of drug and maximize profits. Cutting used to be done by street dealers and at least since 2022 in the production country Colombia , but in 2024 35 labs were busted in the Netherlands, compared to one in 2023; most are connected to the Rotterdam region.

7 tons of cocaine intercepted on farm near Seville, drugs smuggled onto mainland by narco boats (VIDEO) The Spanish Guardia Civil has seized seven tons of cocaine on a farm in Coria del Río (Seville). Three people have been arrested. The drugs were smuggled into southern Spain on “narco boats”. Investigations revealed that a large number of bales were unloaded from the speedboats, which were later taken to a farm in the village of Coria del Río (Seville). This location was guarded with heavy weapons. During the search of the farm where the bales were unloaded, two underground shipping containers were found, where the criminal organization stored several shipments of cocaine and weapons. During the operation, three people were arrested and, in addition to 7,000 kilos of cocaine, three long firearms – including a Kalashnikov – and two stolen vehicles were seized.
