Capone was made sometime around 1928/29 and was instantly bumped to the capo position and in 1931 he became boss of the Chicago family.
I was always under the assumption that he became boss after Torrio was shot in 1925, just that he was still fighting wars with other Italian gangs at the time so there wasn’t an official boss of the whole city yet. So did Torrio remain boss until the late 20s just more in the shadows?
