Ninety years ago today, the Ottoman Turkish government waged a war of terror on Armenian culture through the brutal deportation, imprisonment and decimation of men, women and children of Armenian descent. By 1923, the Ottoman Empire had dissolved, but its monstrous attempt at ethnic cleansing left more than 1.5 million Armenians massacred and 500,000 survivors forcibly exiled from their ancestral homeland. To this day, Turkey has not admitted that there was, in fact, a Genocide.

Can I ask you if the government has changed since then why they deny such a thing?

It is sad to see governments manipulate history the way they want. Same goes with change of Japanese history books for schools and any other attempt trying to fade the horror of murder of civilians or attempt for glorifying such an event.

My Father has been in Armenia about 3 weeks ago and he told me how bad and sad the situation of many families is...
We discussed the turkish terror on the Armenians and how the turkish regime didnt even attempt to make a statement or admit these crimes...

If you look around the site you'd find it isn't just an 'online petition'. It looks like a serious effort by campaigners to get an admission and therefore apology through increasing the awareness of the subject.

I dont think they will bother to pay attention to this. They don't even know who, what kind, which ppl are voting in an online petition.

When National Geography printed Maps for this year and added Arabian Gulf beside Persian Gulf, many people signed an online petition. It actually made them change their map and apologize for attempt to change a historical name. So I think this one can also go a long way.
