Seven arrest orders for mafia have been executed against alleged mafiosi in the Resuttana district of Palermo. The state police carried out the precautionary order in continuation of that of last July which led to the arrest of 18 people.
The role of Salvatore Genova as the alleged mafia boss had emerged, supported by his right-hand man Sergio Giannusa.
Today the new blitz coordinated by the Palermo DDA, directed by Maurizio de Lucia. The crimes charged are mafia association, extortion and robbery. As the investigations continued, other extortion incidents came to light. The owner of a business in the area would also have been part of the mafia family. The police also reconstructed an episode of violence: a businessman was beaten to steal his car. He was a "pawn", since he was considered "guilty" of having accrued a debt towards one of the suspects. During the operation, a Skorpion model machine gun with abraded serial number was found in the house of one of the arrested men.
