Hollander do you have a breakdown of all the different Mafia clans in Sicily, from province to province, who's who, administrations, etc? I would like to see the same for Calabria, Campania, and Puglia as well. Even Rome while we're at it lol. Posted it here: http://www.gangsterbb.net/threads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1071759#Post1071759 . Opened a new thread instead of posting them all here in sicilian mafia topic.

Palermo, mafia: why the "puparo" of Porta Nuova was convicted Verdict overturned for Massimo Mulè The “puparo” loved by everyone In fact, even Vito Galatolo, the repentant boss of Acquasanta, confirmed that Mulè was spoken highly of: "He was expected to leave because they had to give us all things in his hands because he is a very charismatic person, esteemed by all the Cosa Nostra men, all of Palermo, he was a very polite boy". https://livesicilia.it/palermo-mafia-massimo-mule-mafia-puparo-ballaro/

There are over 230 Sicilians at 41 bis.
There is the elite of the Sicilian mafia. The bosses who led Cosa Nostra and other branches of organized crime. From representatives of Orthodox families to stiddari. Massacres, killers and mafia bosses.
They all share the fate of hard prison, the 41 bis regime which scares even the diehards. However, once they end up there, they resist in silence. Scroll through the list and the surnames bring to mind the history, past and present, of the mafia.

No extraordinary permission to visit his sick wife . Third no in a few months for the boss of Belmonte Mezzagno, Benedetto Spera, after those to the request for deferment of the sentence and the granting of a bonus permit. Spera, 89 years old, head of the district arrested in 2001, is one of over 230 Sicilian mafiosi detained in 41 bis .
He hasn't met his now bedridden wife for some time. The National Anti-Mafia Directorate, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Palermo Police Headquarters have given a negative opinion: Spera is socially dangerous and could reactivate contacts with Cosa Nostra . His lawyer, Maurizio Di Marco, contests the decision of the Milan Surveillance Magistrate: the prisoner must be put in a position to maintain family relationships in a rehabilitative way. To the request he attached precedents favorable to prisoners.

I forgot about Aglieri he's also still at 41 bis, he was the crown prince of Cosa Nostra a very religious and intelligent man who inspired Provenzano.
Pietro Aglieri ( Palermo , 6 June 1959 ) is an Italian mafioso , linked to Cosa Nostra and considered one of the most ruthless members of the Corleonese faction .
Biography As a young man he was nicknamed " U signurinu " due to the luxury and high cost of the clothes he liked to wear, as well as the fact that he was a graduate of classical high school . He studied at a seminary in Monreale and shortly after served in the military as a paratrooper in the Folgore Brigade . He was affiliated with the Santa Maria di Gesù family and, during the second mafia war , he linked himself to the Corleonesi together with his boss Giovanni Bontate .
In 1988 the Corleonesi commissioned Aglieri to eliminate Bontate, who was killed together with his wife, and rewarded him by naming him head of the Santa Maria di Gesù family and also head of the area [1] [2] . Having closely linked himself to the Corleonesi , Aglieri was accused of being the instigator of numerous murders (for example the judge Antonino Scopelliti and the politician Salvo Lima ). For the Scopelliti murder, Aglieri was later acquitted in the Supreme Court [3] .
Also involved in the Capaci massacre [4] [5] and that of Via d'Amelio (for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment [6] ), he was arrested in Bagheria on 6 June 1997 [7] : the agents of Flying squad from Palermo led by commissioner Luigi Savina [8] [9] [10] [11] reached him following a religious man, Father Mario Frittitta (who was arrested for aiding and abetting and then acquitted [12] ) [13] [14] [15] , and in fact, in his hideout, they found numerous philosophy books and a chapel with an altar [16] [17] [2] . Shortly after his capture he seemed willing to collaborate with the law, but in the end he gave up this opportunity [18] . In 2002 he sent a letter to the national anti-mafia prosecutor, Pierluigi Vigna , and to the chief prosecutor of Palermo , Piero Grasso , expressing his desire to dissociate himself from Cosa Nostra in exchange for prison benefits, a proposal which was rejected [19] [20] .

Via D'Amelio: Caltanissetta investigating judge orders new investigations into American mafia involvement October 21, 2023 The investigating judge of the Caltanissetta court has ordered new investigations into the massacre in Via D'Amelio , in which judge Paolo Borsellino and the escort officers Emanuela Loi , Vincenzo Li Muli , Claudio Traina , Agostino Catalano and Walter Eddie Cosina lost their lives . In an order, the investigating judge Santi Bologna asked the Nissena prosecutor's office to continue investigations for a period of six months regarding the possible involvement of the American mafia in the Cosa Nostra massacre strategy of 1992. The investigating judge ordered new investigations after the request of dismissal by the Caltanissetta prosecutor's office against Maurizio Avola , ruthless killer from Catania and collaborator of justice (who left the protection program). The investigating judge accepted most of the requests made by the lawyer Ugo Colonna in the interests of Avola, the same one who years later, speaking with the magistrates of Caltanissetta, said he was present on the day of the massacre in Via d'Amelio and having met Judge Borsellino's gaze before the Fiat 126 exploded. Reconstruction of the facts deemed unreliable by the Caltanissetta prosecutor's office who had investigated him for slander . The investigating judge writes, among other things, that so far the "judicial reconstructions carried out" have not "been able to fully reconstruct the phase of the padding and placement of the Fiat 126 on the site of the explosion, nor the identity of all the subjects of the commando who acted in via D'Amelio, nor who actually had to activate the detonation device of the bomb (and from where)".

The hands of the mafia on Custonaci, raid in the Trapani area: 21 arrests. The former deputy mayor is also there Technical-administrative and accounting documentation acquired from the Municipality of Custonaci: among those arrested Carlo Guarano 09:19 by Ernesto Oliva
The Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate, the State Police of Trapani and the Investigation Unit of the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Trapani have executed a precautionary custody order issued by the Court of Palermo, at the request of the corresponding Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate, with which 21 restrictive measures were imposed , of which 17 in prison and 4 under house arrest, against as many people believed to belong to the mafia families of Custonaci, Valderice and Trapani, which belong to the "cosa nostra " mandate of the Trapani capital. At the same time, numerous searches were also carried out against further suspects who were at large and technical-administrative and accounting documentation was also acquired from the Municipality of Custonaci: among those arrested was the former deputy mayor Carlo Guarano, accused of external complicity in a mafia association. Under investigation at large are the former mayor Giuseppe Morfino, the former councilor Giovanni Battista Campo and a majority city councilor in office.
The joint operation called "Scialandro" , which lasted two years, in which the DIA of Palermo and Trapani, the Flying Squad of the Trapani Police Headquarters and the Trapani Investigation Unit of the Carabinieri worked, made it possible to gather serious indications of guilt for crimes of a mafia-type association nature or in any case for crimes characterized by the mafia-like aggravating circumstance.
Specifically, the investigations brought to light synergies and opaque relationships between members of the old municipal administration of Custonaci and the aforementioned mafia consortiums thanks to which the latter managed to impose on the local authority the names of the beneficiaries of solidarity contributions to deal with the conditions of post-pandemic economic hardship, as well as to pilot the awarding of public contracts in favor of colluding companies or those attributable to them, even through third parties, one of which had proceeded with the fictitious hiring of a life prison inmate with the aim of allowing him to benefit from semi-freedom .
The socio-economic control of the territory was also implemented through extortion and intimidation towards the owners of agricultural companies to dissuade them from purchasing land that was targeted by mafia associations.

Alfredo Messina - a high-profile Berlusconi exponent, Berlusconi's manager from the early 1990s and treasurer of Forza Italia between 2016 and 2023 - candidly admitted that "there was the fear that they would also kidnap the Berlusconi's children. So I believe that Mangano's idea wasn't Berlusconi's, but it was Dell'Utri, who knew him for other reasons, who proposed that we put in special protection and avoid kidnapping any kids." “He was taken as a stable boy, Mangano's presence could remove the danger of a kidnapping ,” Messina said. Yet Marcello Dell'Utri , in the spontaneous declarations of 29 November 2004 (in the trial documents), said that he had turned to Mangano because he was looking for "a person who understands land, who understands horses, who understands dogs ", and not having found her in Brianza, Berlusconi “ asked him if he knew anyone suitable in Sicily ”. But in October 2021 Dell'Utri told ' Foglio ' another story. The former senator in fact confirms the meetings Berlusconi had with Mangano himself and Tanino Cinà . In the past he had described them, also adding the presence of Stefano Bontade , the justice collaborator Francesco Di Carlo (now deceased). " When Mangano and Tanino Cinà came to Milan from Sicily, Berlusconi, after having looked them up and down, said to me: Uhm, damn what faces" . “But we need to understand the moment - Dell'Utri added in the interview - We were in the 70s, and Mangano's face could keep bad guys away in a very violent period in the history of this country. A tough face. There were kidnappings then. Mangano came to live in Arcore with his wife, his wife's mother and his two daughters. Who played in the garden with Berlusconi's children. He didn't look like a real mafioso, he looked like a character from a film with Alberto Sordi in Sicily. One about which one can even make irony."

Lorenzo Di Maggio is nicknamed Lorenzino , Calogero Caruso Merendino , Giuseppe Di Maggio as well as Raffaele Di Maggio, considered the regent of the district, Tommaso Inzerillo Tamì , Giovanni Buscemi u farfalle , Francesco Inzerillo u truttature , Alessandro Mannino Sandrino , Antonino Fanara Little Tony , Calogero Badalamenti Caliddu varbazza . All people already known. Many have criminal records for the mafia. They met at restaurants or in secluded places. But the police, once identified, began to spy on them. They photographed them around the city. However, not everything has been clarified. There are many secrets to reveal and once again they take you back to the past. We see Giovanni Inzerillo a lot in circulation, son of that Totuccio riddled with bullets by the Corleonesi who conquered Palermo. One of Inzerillo senior's friends is also linked to Francesco Paolo Bontade, son of Stefano, the prince of Villagrazia

Mafia, the operation that dismantled the Mezzomonreale clan: 11 notices of conclusion of investigations In the Carabinieri raid last January, seven people were arrested between Palermo, Riesi and Rimini: five ended up in prison and two under house arrest
00:00 The Carabinieri of the investigative unit of the provincial command of Palermo have served 11 notices of investigation conclusions for the Roccaforte operation with which the Rocca and Mezzomonreale mafia family in the Pagliarelli district was dismantled last January. Seven people had been arrested between Palermo, Riesi and Rimini: five ended up in prison and two under house arrest.
The suspects are accused of mafia-type association and extortion, committed and attempted, with the aggravating circumstance of having committed the act in order to facilitate mafia activity and of having "made use of the intimidating force of the associative bond and the condition of subjection and of silence that derives from it", state the judges.
Thanks to the interceptions and shadowing, the military also listened to a meeting held in the countryside of Caltanissetta - during which the suspects referred several times to the 'statute' of the Cosa Nostra rules, a real code: in that context recorded is the constant reminder of the suspects to respect the most archaic mafia rules and principles which - summarized in a real statute written by the founding fathers - are considered, even today, the bulwark of the very existence of Cosa Nostra.
In the context of the conversation captured, defined by the investigating judge himself as "extremely rare in judicial experience", explicit reference was made several times to the existence of the "written mafia code", jealously guarded for decades and which still regulates the life of Cosa Nostra in Palermo, the Carabinieri foiled a murder against an architect and numerous extortion and demands for protection money, even through a doll with a bullet in the forehead.

From horse racing to dog fighting, the map of criminal affairs in Sicily Lav presents the 2023 zoomafia report, the island is among the most affected regions08 NOVEMBER 2023 Clandestine horse racing, dog fighting, clandestine slaughter, poaching, wildlife trafficking, doping: these are some of the crimes against animals confirmed in Sicily that emerge from the Zoomafia 2023 report drawn up by Ciro Troiano, criminologist and head of the observatory zoomafia Lav. The new report, which enjoys the patronage of the Antonino Caponnetto Foundation and is now in its twenty-fourth edition, analyzes the criminal exploitation of animals that occurred in 2022. «Sicily is one of the regions where zoo crime is most active - says Troiano. - All the crimes examined are recorded, and some conduct is strongly rooted in the criminal underworld." The observatory asked the ordinary prosecutors' offices, and those at the Juvenile Courts, for data relating to the total number of criminal proceedings in 2022, both known and against unknown persons, and the number of suspects for crimes against animals. For Sicily, the responses came from 13 out of 16 prosecutor's offices (Agrigento, Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto and Ragusa did not respond) and from 3 juvenile prosecutor's offices (Caltanissetta did not respond). «Projecting the data at a regional level, it can be estimated that in 2022 at least 800 cases were registered in Sicily (approximately 8.87% of the national ones), with a rate of 15.82 procedures per 100,000 inhabitants; with at least 600 suspects (approximately 12.89% of the national ones), with a rate of 11.86 suspects per 100,000 inhabitants. We remind you that this is an underestimate and not a certain figure, given the absence of data from important prosecutors who did not comply with our request", states the Lav note. «Trafficking linked to the exploitation of animals in Sicily confirms their danger and represents an important portion of the business carried out at a national level - continues Troiano. - Illegal racing, for example, represents the most alarming business and the investigations have confirmed the interests of the mafia gangs in this crime." «The illegalities - he observes - do not spare the official horse races. According to the official data relating to the list of horses that tested positive in the anti-doping control, pursuant to the regulation of prohibited substances, in 2022, 5 horses that participated in official races in Sicily are tested positive for any banned substance."

Mafia: seven arrests in the Resuttana district The state police investigations coordinated by the DDA PALERMO , 15 November 2023, 6.33pm
ANSA editorial team
Seven arrest orders for mafia have been executed against alleged mafiosi in the Resuttana district of Palermo. The state police carried out the precautionary order in continuation of that of last July which led to the arrest of 18 people.
The role of Salvatore Genova as the alleged mafia boss had emerged, supported by his right-hand man Sergio Giannusa.
Today the new blitz coordinated by the Palermo DDA, directed by Maurizio de Lucia. The crimes charged are mafia association, extortion and robbery. As the investigations continued, other extortion incidents came to light. The owner of a business in the area would also have been part of the mafia family. The police also reconstructed an episode of violence: a businessman was beaten to steal his car. He was a "pawn", since he was considered "guilty" of having accrued a debt towards one of the suspects. During the operation, a Skorpion model machine gun with abraded serial number was found in the house of one of the arrested men.
Anti-mafia operation in Syracuse, the Borgata clan hit, 19 arrests by Editorial Staff | 11/15/2023

Palermo, trial of the 'escapees': Tommaso and Franco Inzerillo convicted in the appeal AMTwo thousand November 14, 2023 With an abbreviated appeal sentence issued last November 9 by the Court presided over by Vittorio Anania , the judges inflicted a series of heavy sentences on the "escapees" who returned to Sicily and arrested in 2019, starting with the cousins ??Tommaso (16 years) and Franco Inzerillo (11 years and 4 months), boss of Passo di Rigano, together with eighteen other defendants. Francesco Inzerillo , known as 'u truttaturi , had never been convicted of mafia charges until his new arrest: in 1988 he had been involved in the "Iron Tower" operation but then acquitted in 1999 of the crime of mafia association. In '97 he was expelled from the United States and arrested upon his arrival in Rome. In 2006 he was sent back to prison in the “Gotha” blitz and was sentenced to ten and a half years, in the first and second degree. The Court of Cassation subsequently annulled the verdict and it was necessary to hold a new trial at the end of which the judges wrote that "a certain dynamic interpenetration of Inzerillo in Cosa Nostra does not appear to be delineable, also given that from the observation services, they only highlighted sporadic meetings of the accused with those individuals, mostly his relatives, who directly became interested in the question of removal from Sicily". Tommaso Inzerillo (known as Tamì ) already investigated in 1980 by the investigating judge Giovanni Falcone for criminal conspiracy aimed at exporting currency and dealing narcotic substances. In October 2005 he was granted semi-liberty, but a year later he was back in prison. He was sentenced to 10 years, but avoided life imprisonment for the accusation of having lured his relatives Pietro and Antonio Inzerillo into a trap by the Corleonesi . Tomasso, free in 2013, according to the new investigations and the story of justice collaborators, would have entrusted Buscemi with the task of participating in the meeting of the new dome convened in 2018.

The repentant and the 100 drug names along the Palermo-Trapani route
PALERMO – The declarations of Antonino Tranchida , drug man and collaborator of justice , are an earthquake . From the undergrowth populated by pushers to the big shots who manage the traffic between Palermo and Trapani. The reports collected a few months ago by the prosecutors of the Palermo District Anti-Mafia Directorate Luisa Bettiol and Gianluca De Leo are full of names.
The chief square of Trapani One of the first names pronounced by the justice collaborator was that of "Antonio Beninati, he was a street leader in the Sant'Alberto district , Palme district (Trapani), I started supplying him just when his son was arrested Joseph. I think we need to be on 2016." He sold them all kinds of drugs: “Cocaine, marijuana, hashish . This square was already well active, Giovanni Alagna supplied it, there was a weekly income of 50 to 70 thousand euros . He organized the square which had guys who worked with him."
“Apartment storage” Street sales are the final part of the work: "He had an apartment in which no one lived in front of his house, it was used for storing drugs and packaging them in doses and then the various guys sold them retail down under the his house. It was a driveway on Via Michele Amari, it is a recess in Via Michele Amari." He didn't always go smoothly: "... then Salerno took over, working with Massimo Ferrara and they secretly gave him a couple of kilos of cocaine from me. When I found out I didn't want to supply him anymore, we blocked the relationship because I wanted exclusivity."
The road that leads to Palermo The name of Ferrara, nicknamed the 'pope' . Before he ended up in prison, an investigative line had emerged that led to Ignazio Traina, now on trial, a key figure in the mafia district of Santa Maria di Gesù and already known in the judicial news. His meetings with Settimo Mineo, the elderly Pagliarelli mafia boss who in 2018 presided over the new Cosa Nostra dome in Palermo, were monitored. Traina has a long criminal curriculum and has always been linked to the Adelfios of Villagrazia.
The drug market has precise supply routes: "The marijuana came from Partinico, the hashish from Palermo and the cocaine could have been from Palermo or could have been from Partinico ... based on where I loaded it." When we talk about Partinico, the Vitales come up. In the drug jungle you have to raise your voice against anyone who dares to start a business without permission. Never step on toes: “Me, Michele Vitale from '92, Giuseppe Accardo and Giovanni Sierra – said Tranchida – had gone there because we knew that there was a plantation and we had to steal that plantation that Cusumano managed ... we knew that the land was of Cusumano, but Michele Vitale from '68 always maintained that this plantation belonged to a Totò Primavera that I don't know, because he always had Totò Primavera in his mouth. Michele Vitale went crazy because he couldn't find this thing and he started setting everything on fire... he told them they shouldn't do anything in Partinico".
The law of the strongest It wasn't the only episode: “With Michele Vitale of '68 we also found another cultivation but I don't know how to identify the place because we moved around by motorbike. It was outside Partinico, from Michele Vitale's house you could see the wind turbines on the right . And then I discovered this plantation later that it belonged to Salvuccio Coppola, only that Salvuccio Coppola had cameras in there , he saw us with the motorbikes, with the helmets, he didn't recognize us, it seemed to him that we could be the police and they destroyed it They". Coppola was the one who brought Tranchida and Lombardo together “because I first met Salvuccio Coppola and then I met him who was in marijuana companies which then fell out. He was beaten by the Guida brothers and for this reason he joined Michele Vitale because we needed strength."
One day it happened that “Lombardo started to compete and then they burned his vans, cars and everything. I know who exactly was ninth, but I mentioned this to Michele Vitale from '68 and he laughed and told me 'it means he deserved it'”.
