Whats going on today around Catania? I visited that area several times and it seems like a very quiet place (except for the Messina area, Giardini Naxos and Taormina) and almost no1 talks about the Mafia
As a tourist you would never guess there is something there, i was on holiday in Sicily few years ago. But Catania & Messina are 'very hot'. Politicians are hand-to-hand with mafia , mayor of Messina was photographed few years ago with mafia members. A lot of activity there , in April this year police seized 2 tons of cocaine. A lot of arrests in Catania/Messina area, more than in Palermo in the last year.
