There were some attempts to re-organize the commission on a provincial level, like Benedetto Capizzi did in 2008, or maybe Settimo Mineo in later years in the Palermo province, but the higher up inter-provincial commission with representatives from each province, maybe is really defunct.
I do believe it really is defunct but just a matter of time before they re-organize it. Sicilian mafia is gaining power in the last few years , especially after covid. This year we saw like 7-8 tons of cocaine seized near Sicily.
