What's funny is oftentimes they get bluffed into flipping by being threatened with extremely long sentences that they more than likely wouldn't have gotten anyway. The same thing happened to Joseph Massino, when they threatened him with the death penalty for whacking another mobster. They were bluffing, I highly doubt that in this day and age in NYC he would've gotten the death penalty. Sure, Damiano Zummo might have "faced" 40 years, but I doubt he would've actually gotten 40 years. Of course it's a roll of the dice, but just going off of recent mob sentencings I just don't see it.
