Im not 100% sure but i think it was FBI agent Roemer who stated that there was some convo in which one of the two myths was allegedly discussed. I personally never found that alleged convo and on top of that, all of Roemer statements should be taken with more than few grains of salt, especially the ones from his book and also the ones made on many documentaries. Another of Roemer's so-called "fantasy" statements was the alleged "Family Pact", in which he allegedly had a personal convo with Humphreys and a deal was made that their personal families were out of the question. Humphreys died in 1965 and later Battaglia was imprisoned in 1967. The family of the main investigator in Battaglias case, constantly received threats and story goes that they were in real danger. It is possible that the imprisoned Battaglia received some pressure from both Ricca and Accardo and so records show that Battaglia allegedly nixed the hit and the investigator allegedly received information that his family was now safe. So if Batttaglia was ready to kill the family of the main investigator in his case, than what "Family Pact"?! lol
