Wednesdays are good for me, too, but only alternate ones, so I'm looking at 9/7 or 9/21/ or alternate Wednesdays after that as OK.
If we do a Wednesday, Cite might not be the best place for a few reasons...
1) The wine dinner isn't available until after 8:00 PM, which will make it a late night for a week night.
2) Not all of us are that into wine drinking, and the food, while good, is not great IMO.
3) $69 per person, plus tax & tip brings the cost up to about $85-90 per person, plus $25-30 to park in Manhattan, plus tolls, plus the cost of drinks if you're not into the wine, makes it pretty expensive unless you're gonna drink a lot of wine.
Instead, I suggest that we go to Casa Dante in Jersey City again.
We can start earlier, it' a lot less expensive, it's more convenient since almost all of us live in Jersey or Rockland County (sorry, SC, but you and Lori can sleep over if you want) and the food is better than Cite.

Great choice Plaw. If it works for all of us, including SC and Lori, I don't mind going there again. I can use some of that Garlic bread! Sicilian Babe pointed out that the 7th is tough for her as it is the first day of school for her kids. So how about we look at the 14th? Does that work for everyone? Don Cardi

About the same travel time as into the city, but no worries about tunnel traffic.

I miscounted my Wednesdays, DC, and edited my post above.
9/14 is no good for me. 9/21 or alternate Wednesdays after that work, though.

If we wanted to do something in NYC, we might want to try Becco. Because it's in the theatre district, it gets its biggest crowds between 6-7:30. It has an entire wine list with selections for $20, and the food is very good. It's owned by Lidia Bastiancih, and here's the website, if anyone is interested: Becco

I vote Casa Dante. The food is good, it's convenient for almost everyone, and the place is perfect for a crowd of our size. Don Cardi

I did a search for Casa Dante and I found it on some kind of newjerseyguide.com or something like that (I lost the link) it gave a review, details etc.
I've been there maybe 30 times or more since I discovered the place after moving to NJ seven years ago. I've seen several celebrities there, including former Jersey City Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Bret Schundler and basketball TV analyst Bill Raftery. But the best time I had there was when we saw comedian Pat Cooper. He was right next to us a table with about 10 people, and while they were waiting for their desert, he stood up and did about a five minute monologue which was absolutely filthy and hilarious. He had the complete attention of the whole place which was packed at the time, and everyone was in stitches.

Price range, depending on how many orders of mussels and garlic bread we get for the table should be about $50-60 per person, including tax and tip.
And the veal is the best in Jersey City.

So we're tentatively set on Casa Dante for Wednesday 9/21, then? Say at 7:00 PM?
