Forget that link. It's for a show that already took place. I did find another one for 2006, but I just can't seem to locate it again.

Ok, here is the correct link :

http://hollywoodcollectorshow.com/

sorry about that.

I spoke to the show promoter through an e-mail and he tells me that he is trying to secure a deal with a new hotel right outside O'Hare airport.

They happen often, apparently, and they're starting to include Burbank. In fact, they have shows scheduled in Cally through 2008 already. Maybe we can finally visit the Left Coast next year.

According to their schedule:

Burbank, CA :
October 1st & 2nd, 2005
January 27th & 28th, 2006
April 22nd & 23rd, 2006
July 15th & 16th, 2006
October 14th & 15th, 2006
(More in 2007 and 2008)

Chicago, IL :
November 5th & 6th, 2005 (Tentative)
May 6th & 7th, 2006 (Tentative)

Edit: Okay, I see you saw it now.

Not a bad idea. However I was thinking that Chicago may be good because it is basically a central location which may make it easy on all to travel to versus ahving to travel to the east coast or the west coast.

And besides, if we go to Chicago we have a very good shot at finding your friend REEEBENGAAAA!

How can they have shows scheduled for 2006, but November of this year is tentative?? I don't know about getting together in a big crowd. I think that DC had the right idea with this past one, a weekend of our own, where we can all get together and sort of do our own thing. I think that a big crowded "event" would not be nearly as much fun, but what do I know? You guys did both, so you would have a better idea.

Well, last year's Chicago convention was basically just us.

I really like the idea of this show - hundreds of booths (instead of a dozen) and dozens of actors (instead of three) We could always stay at a different hotel, but staying at the hosted hotel gives free admission to the con -- and who knows who'll be hanging out in the lounge -- you wouldn't want to have a drink with Elvira and The Big Ragoo? (Maybe enough people that they won't close down early! )

I like the idea of a show as a venue for us also. Many different factors, but most of all the ability for anyone who wants to attend to travel without having to go cross country. I'm going to call this guy up on the phone and get an idea about this show, and his past shows from him. A phone call cannot hurt.

The autograph thing could be fun, but remember - its not the event, its the company. We'll have fun regardless.

I looked at the list of those selling their autographs and I figured I'd wanna get about 6-7 of them. Ya hafta figure they're selling the signatures for a minimum of $10 so it can add up quickly.

I agree, too, that we'd be better off staying at the same hotel in which the convention is held. That way there is no necessity for any designated drivers and we'll get to mingle with the stars in the off-hours.

Dats cause we a bunch of party whores mang!

I called the guy up and explained to him why we may be interested in attending and what we have done for the last two years. He claims that he gets a huge turnout and that is why he books so many dates so far in advance. I told him what kind of Baord we belong to and that he may need to hire some gangster related actors for the show!

He claims that he has had some of the ORIGINAL untouchables at several of his past shows. I told him that he needs to get someone from The Godfather movies to appear. He actually liked the idea. We'll probably wind up with George Hamilton or somebody like that!

So DC, forgive my confusion, but I am at work now and can't devote full attention here. (dammit!! :p ). I thought this event passed???

Also, if you guys are really serious, shouldn't we start yet another "new" convention thread?

Ok TIS, good idea. and the original link I posted was the outdated one. I since posted the correct one, but I will start a new thread as you suggested.

After seeing the menu , I'm in! Always wanted to try that place, but certainly I'll need to get a room that night! I should warn them, though - after we go, they may cancel the "all you can drink" offer!

If you look at the wine prices on the menu, you can see what a great deal their wine dinner is.

Based on what I've had there in the past, you're basically getting a $50-60 bottle of wine for free (assuming you can drink a whole bottle).

And JG, you can stay over at my place. No traffic, and I'm literally 15 minutes from there.

Sheesh - the wine dinner is "after 8pm" and they close at 11:30? Hmm, I suppose I could still get plenty in in 3 hours...

Sounds good to me! Of course, Mr. Babe needs to be consulted, but I don't think we have any plans that far in advance. I wonder if it's cheaper to stay in Manhattan or hire a limo??
