Italian police on Saturday arrested a mafia member suspected of killing two alleged Chinese prostitutes and a Colombian transgender sex worker in Rome, local media reported.
The bodies of the two Chinese women were discovered in a residential building in the upmarket Prati district on Thursday morning, while the body of the South American was found in an apartment in the same neighbourhood an hour later.
All three victims were stabbed, according to Italian media reports.
According to the Il Corriere della Sera daily, footage from surveillance cameras allowed police to identify 51-year-old Giandavide De Pau, who had been prosecuted in the past for drug trafficking and sexual assault.
The suspect is a member of a mafia clan headed by Michele Senese, who is currently serving a life sentence. De Pau is believed to have been one of Senese's closest collaborators, acting as his personal driver and handyman.
In 2008 and 2011, the suspect had also spent time in a psychiatric hospital.
It is unknown whether the suspected killer was carrying out a mafia hit or acting alone, possibly under the influence of drugs, which were found at home of some family members, where he is believed to have sought refuge after the police manhunt got underway, Il Corriere della Sera reported.
Several newspapers had warned of a possible "serial killer" in the Italian capital.
The body of one of the Chinese victims was spotted by a neighbour where it lay, naked on a landing. The woman, believed to be in her 40s, had suffered head and stomach injuries, the newspaper said.
When police entered her apartment, they found the body of the second Chinese woman.
Nobody in the building appeared to have heard the murders take place, according to residents.
"Everybody knew there was a house of ill repute here, I'd see people arriving at 2:00 am, 3:00 am," a woman who lived in the building told reporters.
The body of the Colombian, who was 65, was found by a friend, Il Corriere della Sera said.

Antonio Da Ponte, with criminal records and linked with Camorra, was shot and wounded in Ostia
Another one is Ostia ? What's going on there.
A criminal feud for drug control has been going on in the area for months, characterized by arson attacks and gunshots against the doors of houses. The killed Vallo earlier this month was very close to the gypsies.

The Antimafia, after the murder, is also focused on the Mafia families of the Triassi and Cuntrera - Caruana originally from Siculiana in the province of Agrigento and transplanted to the coast of Ostia since the 1980s.

it seems that the gypsy clans (Casamonica, Spada etc.) are losing ground after trials and convictions

Who was the most violent member of all time based in Italy? Any gory details anyone can share? Acid baths? Dismemberment? Skinning people alive?
Anyone know?
Filippo Marchese he ran what became known as the Room of Death, a small apartment along the Piazza Sant Erasmo. Victims were lured there to be murdered, usually by being garrotted. Their bodies were either dissolved in acid or chopped up and dumped out at sea. As many as 100 people were killed there during the Second Mafia War.

Antonio Da Ponte, a face familiar to the police sentenced to twenty years for murder and released from prison for a year and a half. His family, once linked to the Camorra, arrived in Ostia in the 1980s. His wife was shot in the buttock, he was in the abdomen. The two manage a restaurant together with their relatives in via di Castel Porziano. In the car with them, at the time of the ambush, there was also their less than one-year-old son, who was fortunately unharmed. The conditions of the two would not be serious..Saturday's ambush was carried out by two people with full-face helmets aboard a scooter, near the former Dispensa restaurant.

The gypsies should not be underestimated though. The organization, of Sinti origin, accepts only family members and continues to be strong and feared despite the many arrests. However, their activity is not limited only to Rome: they are present, with their ramifications, in many areas of the South. In the latest report of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate (DIA), referring to the first half of 2021, alliances of the Casamonicas with Sicilian mafia families are mentioned.

After Abbatino was arrested in Venezuela he announced he would cooperate with Italian authorities. The major trial in 1995 is generally considered to have marked the end of the Banda della Magliana.
Abbatino testified at other trials.. He was given a new identity and lives in a secret location. In March 2016, however, state protection was taken away from him.

yes, according to the 'Ndrangheta turncoat Massimiliano Fazzari «When Vittorio Casamonica was alive, what he said was. If he said A it was A. His house was as important as the sanctuary of the Madonna di Polsi (in the municipality of San Luca, in the province of Reggio Calabria). In the Tuscolana area, especially near the alley of Porta Furba, the Casamonicas have a control comparable to that which a locale (a branch of the clan) of the 'Ndrangheta can have in a Calabrian town»

The victim's partner alerted 112. The man is in serious condition at the Umberto I polyclinic hospital
Shooting in Tufello , a village north-east of Rome, where a 46-year-old local man was shot in the legs. It happened shortly after 5pm this afternoon, February 22, and the victim was surprised by two men who broke into his home while he was sleeping. The house is located in via Monte Taburno. The authorities were alerted by the man's partner, with whom she lives, and who in these hours is telling the carabinieri her version of the facts. According to her statements, two men armed with balaclavas and pistols knocked directly on the door of the house. The woman thus opened, and they allegedly broke into the apartment and then headed right into the bedroom where the 46-year-old was sleeping. Two shots, in the right and left leg. Then the escape. On the spot, in addition to the mobile team and the scientific police, the 118 rescue personnel intervened and transported the victim to the Umberto I polyclinic with a red code. The man is already known to the authorities due to a drug record. The reasons for what happened are not yet known, nor are the identities of the two perpetrators, which the local police station is investigating. At the moment, no hypothesis is excluded.

A collaborator of justice mentioned them "I know the whole reality of S. Basilio where some families manage 4 squares: in addition to the first managed by Cataldi, the second called La Lupa by the Ciminos, a third by the Primavera brothers and from their father, and the fourth from the son of a certain Fabio "il nero", whose name I don't remember"."
