The court of Constance pronounced the first conviction for belonging to the 'Ndrangheta issued in Germany. This is what the radio and television station "Mdr" reports , adding that the convict is an Italian-born waiter from Ueberlingen who was found guilty of drug trafficking and support for a foreign criminal organization. At first instance, the sentence established a prison sentence of three years and six months, definitively reduced on appeal to two years and five months. The man was arrested in May 2021 as part of the operation "Platinum-Dia", conducted by the authorities of Germany and Italy. The target were the so-called Giorgis "Bovincians", a clan of the 'Ndrangheta of San Luca. The family is suspected of having imported cocaine from South America into Italy via the Netherlands, Belgium and the port of Hamburg.

The Ueberlingen waiter worked in the restaurant that the investigators assign to the "Bovinciani" with two others, respectively in Baden-Baden and Radolfzell. The Friedrichshafen police had managed to introduce an informant into the clan, who met the convict in the Ueberlingen club in 2019. During the interview, the waiter allegedly spoke of the Giorgi clan's activities in international drug trafficking. In particular, the waiter allegedly claimed that the crime family could obtain a kilo of high-quality cocaine for 3200 euros. Between April and May 2019, the man offered the informant several kilos of cocaine. In the end, the deal fell through, probably because at least 50 kilos of cocaine destined for the Giorgi clan were seized in the port of Gioia Tauro. As highlighted by "Mdr", with the conviction by the court of Constance it would be the first time in which the presence of the 'Ndrangheta was attested in a judicial way in Germany.
