If you've ever read, or glanced through some of Frank Miller's art-work for the graphic novel, you'd see that that is just his style. Very simplistic, caricatures, with minimal color. Personally, I think it's quite cool.

But as fast as my knowledge goes, it has no major signifigance; it's just staying true to the feel of the comic.

And by god, this was spectacular! I'll be seeing this several times more, before the DVD release.
