Spoilers for the New Show

Paramount Plus dropped three episodes yesterday. My basic impression was, "What are they trying to do here?" They have this very weird thing where they drop lines from the book/movie into people's mouths, which left me wondering if we're supposed to think that the line originated there. A gangster tells the producer "I don't want want you to be scared," and I'm wondering if that's supposed to be where line originated, or if it's supposed to be an inside joke for the real fans. It just ends up being distracting.

The three smartest people in the show so far are Puzo's wife, the producer Ruddy's female assistant, and his girlfriend. They see things others can't, men immediately act on their advice. Edit: Puzo's female agent is also smarter than him. Puzo in general is portrayed as an ignoramus.

By the end of the third installment, they had a finished script, and it was a bit of a letdown. Coppola set forth what is, at least to me, a charming story where he commandeered a corner of a coffee shop typing day after day, forwarding pages to Puzo for comment. What's presented here is very different.
