Italian police seize mafia goods worth 800 million euros in Calabria
Italian police announced on Wednesday that they had seized property worth more than 800 million euros. They belong to three brothers suspected of ties to the Calabrian mafia, the 'Ndrangheta.

The properties include numerous businesses, supermarkets, one of the largest shopping centers in southern Calabria and real estate, including two luxury villas, according to a statement from the Financial Police (GDF). Bank accounts, luxury motorcycles and, among other things, a Ferrari were also seized.

The Italian justice has been investigating the patrimony of the three brothers for years. One of them is currently on trial after an operation against the mafia in 2015.

According to the AGI news agency, it concerns the brothers Franco, Pasqualino and Marcello Perri. Their father Antonio Perri was murdered outside one of his supermarkets in 2003.

According to AGI, the investigators suspect the brothers of having made large profits thanks to their ties to the mafia and violations of the free market laws. They would have acquired a sort of monopoly in the sectors in which their companies operated.

Experts regard the 'Ndrangheta as the most powerful mafia in Italy after supplanting the Sicilian Cosa Nostra and the Neapolitan Camorra.
