To your last point, that's probably what happened. Somehow DiGregorio had to to believe he had a good shot at really taking over. I personally believe, although Paul Sciacca wasn't necessarily a powerhouse, if Frank Mari and Mike Adamo were loyal, it would've worked out. They were very capable.
