For fun, I'll join in and ask: If you can murder your most trusted man and get away with it, why not spare him and do the hit on the first target in the same manner?
Harder to get close to? Riskier. Could be a million reasons.
Most trusted man trusts me so it would be the easier of the two hits from a technical perspective. Plus if he gets fingered before I can take him out hopefully he doesn't rat. We chose this life.
Plus if possible I'd want to blame someone else for my guy's death, use it to my advantage. Best case scenario, use it to pit two competing parties against each other while I sit back and wait to benefit.
