He is generally considered the grandaddy of the gambling rackets that originated in the City of Schenectady, in Upstate New York.

Largely unknown outside of their city and the greater Albany area in general, nonetheless this man played a pivotal role in the early development of horse and sports bookmaking, policy numbers, and crap games in the local underworld. He was also viewed in hindsight as the mentor of many future Schenectady gamblers and racket operators including the brothers Di Cocco and others.
