I am no Gotti fan, but you have to admit John Gotti started with absolutely nothing and became powerful through sheer balls. Also, Gotti didn't publicly complain one bit when he got life. A lot of people respect that.
Gotti is ethnic, Trump is a straight-up WASP rich white Anglo businessman. That being said, ethnic tensions between criminal groups is common, everyone is out to maintain and expand their own power and have a strong disdain for outsiders. Gotti is no different, then you have to consider he's from a different generation, not our politically correct one.
