Why does it seem that more than a few east coast LCNers tend to use a .22 when they go do a hit. Like Frank Martines when he tried taking out John Veasey, I believe he hit him 5 times in his head with a .22 why not use a something a little stronger that will get the job done on one shot?

Its quieter, and a Long .22 cal 'hollow point' bullet spreads out upon impact, so it creates a larger hole than a simple .22, another major benefit is that a .22 caliber (once it enters the body) often times bounces around inside the body causing much more damage than a heavier bullet. ripping through organs, muscles, etc.

A .22 caliber can be a devastating weapon in the right hands.

Another big plus is that you can buy bullets anywhere (without a license). because a .22 fits both a handgun and rifle which is not a Sullivan Law violation

Martines’ mistake was he was too far back when he started shooting most likely. Behind the ear with a .22 is usually gonna get job done, break through and bounce around the brain a little bit without breaking through and exiting.

A large plastic pop bottle works well on a wheel gun ;-)

A .22 isn't a self defense weapon because it has no real stopping power (the bullet weighs only 39 grains, vs. 230 grains for a .45ACP). But, it's a good assassination weapon provided the killer can put it right on the victim's head. It's small and concealable, has practically no recoil, and makes little noise. You saw a perfect example in "Casino," when Nicky (Joe Pesci) uses a .22 to kill a woman who was making trouble for the Mob-run hotel.
