He was NOT a undercover police officer such as Donnie Brasco was in the 1980s in NYC.
Morena was essentially just a rat who turned on his friends. But in Canada they refer to 'informants' as police undercover operatives which gives the reader the wrong impression that they are some type of policeman.
He 'turned' on his former associates, thats all.
In the United States he's called a rat, stool pigeon, informant.
In Canada he's called a 'police undercover operative.'
But it's actually one and the same thing.
