The legendary
Sonny Fox died January 24 at age 95 from COVID-related pneumonia.
Baby-boomers growing up in the NYC area in the 1950's and 1960's knew the name - he hosted
Wonderama,
Just For Fun and other game shows. He was also a philanthropist, and I believe at one time he was president of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He was from Brooklyn and attended my neighborhood high school - James Madison HS. He was quite active and vigorous well into his nineties.
I just noticed this on the Internet. I don't believe it got any mention on any of our local newscasts here. Damn shame. In my youth I became unbeatable at "Simon Says" because of him.
R.I.P. Sonny Fox.
