So I saw goodfellas again yesterday and I thought I would come on and ask this question.

The end where Tommy(joepesci) shoots that gun in the camera. Is that supposed to symoblize something, or is it a tribute to that infamous The Great Train Robbery scene where at the end, the guy shoots the gun in the camera???

"You heard what happened in my home? [Frank: Mike, I almost died myself, we was all so relieved] In my home! In my bedroom, where my wife sleeps; where my children come and play with their toys. In my home."

I think it's meant as a tribute but that's just my opinion. Welcome to the boards!

It's Scorsese's homage to the Great Train Robbery, however I think it also stands for Henry's sort of, homesick feeling of the mafia life.

Like everyone else said, it is a referance to The Great Train Robbery, but IMO its also saying that he's still going to have to keep looking over his back, every day of his life. That is never going to end.
