This is truely disgusting. To take a great film (one of the greatest underrated films in its genre) and turn it into some ghetto trash that pleases the MTV generation and not true mafia movie afficianados. Point Blank, if Pacino is not the main character (or an actor of his equal character)the film can not be successful.
Bart, Is it wrong to steal a loaf of bread to feed your starving family? No. Well suppose you got a large starving family, is it wrong to steal a truckload of bread to feed them? Uh-uh. And what if your family don't like bread, they like cigarettes? I guess thats ok. Now what if instead of giving them away, you sold them at a price that was practically giving them away. Would that be a crime Bart?

I love Carlitos Way, I am just hoping for the best that the film will be entertaining. In My Opinion, by having Puff Daddy in the movie will cheapen the Carlitos Way story.

I am guessing the the film executives are going for a more urban flava (enjoy the pun haha) and Puff Daddy (P. Diddy) appeals to this group of people. He is known for excessive wealth and flunting the ice or bling bling (again with the puns) P Diddy is like a poster child for urban music. Then again, their is a new poster child every month. Who knows, maybe they choose from several rappers (sorry, rhymers) and he was the best. Also, i can be totally wrong in my opinions. Anyway, I am hoping for an entertaining film, reguardless of the cast. (it helps to have a sister who is a high school cheerleader)

Here's an update from Dark Horizons (2/2/05): "Carlito's Way" Prequel Script ReviewPosted: Wednesday February 2nd, 2005 11:09pm Source: LatinoReview Author: Garth Franklin A script review for the prequel to the 1993 Brian DePalma/Al Pacino thriller "Carlito's Way" has gone up at LatinoReview and gives further insight into the story: "Jay Hernandez stars as the young Carlito Brigante, who from an early age is seduced by the power and excitement of the New York underworld. Assisted by his two "brothers" in crime, Rocco (Michael Kelly, Dawn of the Dead) and Earl (Mario Van Peebles, Ali), Carlito is on the fast-track to becoming Spanish Harlem's ultimate kingpin. But when he is challenged, Carlito has just one thing on his mind...survival. I wanted to hate this script but I actually didn't. I ended up liking the script -- it's entertaining -- and I hope it makes an entertaining movie which I think it will. I will definitely go and see it on opening night to show my support for Hernandez and see how he pulls off playing Nuyrorican. What the script has going for it and what I like is that Carlito is a swaggering motherfu**ker". The full script review can be found here .
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

The script has the same kind of feel to the original but I hope Hernandez can pull it off not so much Al Pacinos looks but his tone of voice(distinctive yelling lol) and of course his walk. I like the music in the original so thats another thing to look out for.
