Are there any rumors about Special Editions of these two movies? They both really deserve a re-release like Goodfellas has gotten.

Also is the Donnie Brasco special edition worth buying, or is there a newer edition comming out soon. The current Special Edition is dated back to 2000.

First of all,one of the members here has said that both Raging Bull and Casino are unavailable/out of print, something like that. That might be a sign a special edition might be coming out.Heat I have no clue about.I would by the Donnie Brasco SE just for the movie, because it is one of my favorites.Chances are, since the DB SE came out not too long ago, theyre not coming out with another one.You might be innterested to know that The Untouchables SE is coming out soon.

I know the Casino DVD can be bought basically everywhere. I hope a SE of that comes out, though.

Oh yeah the Untouchables SE. I probably won't get that; I already have the regular DVD. De Niro was all that made that interesting, plus Sean Connery. I guess the Untouchables prequel is going to focus on Al Capone. I wonder who will play him.

Untouchables is a good one if it has cool bonus features I'd buy it again

When some one needs to be whacked you call Don Leporleone,
When some one needs to be paid off you call Don Leporeloene,
When some one needs protection you call Don Leporeleone....
But when you buy canolis from the bakery you don't share them with Don Leporeleone, what have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully

Untouchables prequel?

I've never hear of any prequel planned for the Untouchables. Is there a link I can check out?

okay, HEAT: SPECIAL EDITION DVD is coming this winter/Christmas shopping season, along with the DVD release of Michael Mann's COLLATERAL(which itself was quite good).

Anyway, the HEAT I assume will be part of the TWO-DISC SPECIAL EDITION line at Warner Brothers with 2 discs that contain at least a Michael Mann audio commentary track(sweet!), a 1 hour-plus documentary on the film, etc.

Of course from a dirty little bird I know, but not sure if its true or not, I heard that WB considered seriously putting L.A. TAKEDOWN on the HEAT SE DVD, mainly the 2nd disc.

As HEAT fans know, L.A. TAKEDOWN was the unsuccessful TV pilot that Michael Mann wrote/directed from his original HEAT script, then which years later he finally made HEAT the theatrical motion picture.

Either way, I would expect someone like Anchor Bay Entertainment to put out L.A. TAKEDOWN out on Region 1 DVD...but who knows!

Apparently a Special Edition DVD of CASINO is in the long-term plans and will happen eventually. Good Martin Scorsese picture!

Any knowledge on how long "long-term plans" are? If I had to guess I'd say sometime next year as a 10th Anniversary Edition or something like that. But it's definately getting done, right? Also, has Universal or Columbia Tristar mention anything about a Martin Scorsese Collection now that Warner Brothers & MGM have done them??

I haven't heard any word from Columbia over a Scorsese box-set...but if the MGM boxset sells well like the WB box, you are guaranteed for sure sucka that Columbia will try to do one!

Of course it would include TAXI DRIVER, the 1993 costume period piece THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, and other movies I'm not sure about, though Columbia did have the DVD rights at one point to KING OF COMEDY....

True. Or Universal could do one with The Last Temptation of Christ, Cape Fear, and a special edition Casino

Knowing how Criterion is about its special features, I bet ya when the company loses its DVD rights of LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST(and force to can the DVD that is on sale in stores)......Universal will then put out a single-disc DVD that will have theatrical trailer, wide-screen transfer...and thats about it. I mean look at Universal's current BRAZIL DVD, which is vanilla compared to Criterion's legendary 3-disc BRAZIL DVD. Of course Criterion's BRAZIL DVD is still around but still...

Ya the UNIVERSAL boxset would have LAST TEMPTATION, the current SE DVD of CAPE FEAR, and hopefully a rocking CASINO: SE DVD. Sounds like an ace $40 DVD boxset!

They better have the behind the scenes on the bank heist/shootout scene. This is one of best actions scenes EVER !

CyberSchmuck, you are right indeed!

apparently http://www.dvdanswers.com claims that the 2-disc SE DVD of COLLATERAL will be released this Christmas. Why does this relate to HEAT?

Months earlier on http://www.digitalbits.com, it was reported that WB planned to release the HEAT: SE DVD, already finished and ready to go, whenever COLLATERAL was to be, which was reported to had been Spring 2005. However, with this news for Christmas....I guess I know what ELSE to get for Xmas!
