POSSIBLE SOPILER WARNINGS THROUGHOUT! I've heard really good things about this movie, so I was really looking forward to seeing it.But after seeing it, I felt really dissapointed. It really had no plot. Tom starts working for the Italain boss, twisting his mind around his friends, setting up all sorts of people, which usually end up backfiring at least 2 or three times, but in the end it all works out for the better. Give me a break, I've had dreams with better plots than that. The one thing that I did like is that they used relatively unknown actors, which I think added authenticity to it.This movie would have been a lot better if it had a story to tell. 6/10

Well, you have to remember it's the Coen Brothers, so any kind of weirdness can be expected. It was more about film making as an art, rather than plot.
Nevertheless, I thought the plot was good, the dialogue great, and the acting superb.

I was reading a book on the Coens last week. Miller's Crossing was inspired by the recurring image they had of a hat blowing in the wind through a forest.
Still to see the film. The longer I go without seeing it, the more I expect of it, which is never a good thing, especially with the hit-or-miss Coens. As it is their earlier work, though, I expect this to at least live up to some of my expectations.
I taped Raising Arizona the other week, and still need to watch that, too.
