I don't know if this has been discussed on this forum before. I have seen several great Italin mobster films, but now I kinda want to broaden my horizons and check out some Asian Mob Films. So can anyone recomend any good films that deal with Yakuza or any other Asian organized crime?

Thanks

Yakuza movies i've seen are Brother and Black Rain. i find Black Rain much better but it depends, others like Brother than the other.

Chow Yun Fat?

Yeah I know he usually sucks but this movie is great. Any film with the tagline "One Vicious Hitman. One Fierce Cop. Ten Thousand Bullets." is worth checking out.

I highly recommend "To be Number 1" starring Ray Lui as "Bai Ho" (aka Limpy Ho). Some say it might have either used Scarface's style but the fact is, it's based on a true story. in fact, this movie started the whole "pu-li-ah-moh" craze. (btw, "pu li ah moh" is a slang in the Chiu Chau dialect. it literally translates to "fuck your mother".

another triad movie to check out is the "Young & Dangerous" movies.. there's about 6 movies made in this movie series and other spinoff movies layin' around. there's alotta sequels...i know. but it's based on a comic book so what do you expect? i'd recommend parts 1 and 3, and perhaps 6 (aka Born to be King). spinoff-wise, the Y&D prequel, Those Were the days, and the Sister 13 spinoff are the best spinoffs. the prequel rocked for several reasons; they went back to the basics, and the scene where Nicholas Tse gets stuffed with a bag of rats in his head. lol!

Chow Yun-Fat's surname is Chow, by the way. but yes...i loved the first movie. the sequel was...crap although i loved the "apologize to the rice" scene. but the prequel "A Better Tomorrow 3" was even worse. it's gone from gangster flick to vietnam war movie.
