alright, well this book isn't old and it's not a mob story. it's a true story about this guy who was in a gang. lots of violence, swearing, drugs. Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member
very good book. i don't even read that much and i couldn't put it down.

well that wasn't quite the case, it was a diary to be correct, if not a story written by the actual mafioso

BEavis, I'm wondering if you're thinking of "The Last Testament of Lucky Luciano" by Martin Gosch. It's not based on diaries, but (allegedly) on interviews Luciano gave to Gosch. Reviewers gave it high marks. It's out of print now, but you can buy it used at http://www.amazon.com or http://www.abebooks.com
