If youre hungry forMafia novels, I recommend this onea:

Gangster- Lorenzo Carcaterra. 9/10. The story of Gangster Angelo Vestieri, best friend Pudge Nichols and boy Gabe. Excellent writing by the creator of Sleepers. Gives very good details of how gangs work. Good prose and unforgettable sentences. Good characters and a good atmosphere from 1906 t0 1996.

Capo- By Peter Watson. 8/10. The story of how the Mafia first came to America, via New Orleans. The story of Silvio Randazzo, a man that rises from soldier to Don in ten years. Awesome book with details of early Mafia operations, with a good backdrop.
Awesome, but beware. If you didn't enjoy Vincent and Mary's relationship in GFIII, you should skip some parts. Watson gets very "descrptive" with Silvio' relationship with cousin Anzunziatta. Also lots of f-bombs and sex. Its only weak poinst. Good one though.

Read them. They're very good.

Hey Georgie, that sounds like some good reading material; especially Capo. I lived in NO for a few months and was fascinated by the rich history of that place.

I've never read Capo but Gangster was really good, although I think anything by Lorenzo Carcaterra is good.

Chancre- How's New Orleans? I'll like to visit it, specially the famed French Quarter. You can find Watson's novel in http://www.amazon.com.

Liz 85- Carcaterra is awesome. Saw Sleepers a couple of weeks ago. Good movie. Plan to read the book.

Sleepers was a fantastic film, and the book is just as good. If you like it, read A Safe Place. It tells of Carcaterra's life prior to the incidents that take place in Sleepers. Brilliant writing.

Try reading "Gangland." It's a great story how Bruce Mouw & the FBI finally were able to remove the "Teflon" from John Gotti.
