Im a little more than halfway through the novel "Murder Machine" written by Gene Mustain and Jerry Capeci and I've enjoyed it quite a bit thus far. I definately think somebody should make a good film on Roy DeMeo and his gang, along with the whole Dominick Montiglio/Nino Gaggi story tied in (like the book). Anybody agree, and anybody think it'll ever happen?

Someone might make a fairly interesting film about DeMeo, but Nino Gaggi and Dominick Montiglio struck me as awfully boring in "Murder Machine." Montiglio's story as a Viet Nam vet lured by his uncle to the Mob life, screwed up during the war, and wrecked by drugs, could have been an interesting story, but not the way it was portrayed in the book. A more dramatic tale is told by DeMeo's son Albert in "For the Sins of My Fathers," which plawrence was kind enough to lend me.

I would definately like to read "For the Sins Of My Father" after I finish "Murder Machine". I understand where your comming from with some of the ways the novel tells the story of Dom and Nino. Turnbull, who do you think would play a great DeMeo if a film is ever to be made on Roy and whatnot? I cant think of anybody at the moment but if and when I do ill be sure and post it up.

GF, I'm sure you'll enjoy "For the Sins of My Father"--intelligent, well-written, with some interesting insights (such as descriptions of what went on in the famous Ravenite Social Club in Little Italy--HQ of Neil Dellacroce and later, John Gotti).
Who'd make a good Roy DeMeo? Interesting question! Pesci would be too forceful, given the description of DeMeo as a suck-up. We'd need someone who'd express the banality of a seemingly ordinary but ambitious guy who engages in wholesale murder and dismemberment. Peter Boyle would be good. So would Steve Buscemi. Who would you choose?

Steve might do a good job with the earlier years of Roy, when he was skinny. And Peter would def have fit the look of the later chubby Roy if he was a bit younger. I cant think of any good actors who actually look strikingly close to Roy in his mug shot photo (the most common and one of the only besides 2 others that I've seen online).

I think Armand Assante could play Roys cousin "Dracula" and Michael Imperioli could play either a very good young Roy DeMeo, OR he could play Dominick Montiglio (if the movie were to have Dom and Nino tied in like the novel).
