A few British ones:

Sexy Beast (haven't seen)
Snatch
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
The Krays (haven't seen)
Gangster No. 1 (haven't seen)

Non-British ones:
Once Upon A Time In America
The Untouchables (from the cops' perspective.)
Mean Streets
Taxi Driver (some people relate it to gangsters; I don't!)

Old classics:
On The Waterfront (haven't seen)
That's about it as far as classic 50's go for me, but I'm sure there are loads to be added!

Welcome to the BB!

Donnie Brasco is different from Donnie Darko. See the spelling? (joke) Donnie Brasco is based from a true story which stars Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, and Michael Madsen. don't know what Darko is about, have'nt seen the movie.

if you can find "City of God" don't hesitate to watch it. its a brazilian film based on a true story. its not dubbed in english so have to read the subtitles, its very much worth the watch.

this was released this year Guineapig. this is filmed in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. its about a group of small time hoodlums who later become the most dangerous criminal. the story of two brothers and their childhood friends, based on a true story. this is the farthest i can go my friend i don't want to spoil it. believe me, its one of the best movies i've seen.

They are very different movies. But I am interested to know, how are you familiar with Donnie Darko?
