In many movies Italians are called WOPs, now it seems like this is racist but i don't know what it means. Not like I'm going to run around saying it, but first of all i just want to know why it is so bad. Any help would be much obliged, and if I offended anyone sorry.

It is an Italian racial slur... It stands for "Without Passport" because the Italians used to come over to the US by the bundle without passports...

how about this DV, since you never answer the question people ask you, if i put one up and don't ask for your help, just don't answer it.

I know. His answer didn't answer your question at all. Your question was why is it bad and what does it mean... And he says it's a racial remark to Italians. I mean, you already knew that... Vercetti, try reading questions over instead of hopping in and not answering correctly.

I don't want to quote what i already put so i'll tell you what i meant which a retard would've understood. I'll put into your words, i'll give it a try...

What does WOP mean? I know it's a bad racial slur and is used against Italians. If anyone could help that would be great and if i offended(which means hurt) anyone i didn't mean to.

There, maybe you can understand that. Also, how much % Italian was Capone?

Capone was born in Brooklyn, NY.

I, also, heard that the word "wop" derived from WithOut Passport.

Years ago, for the underworld, there was a BIG difference between being born in Sicily and being born in Naples. The fact that Capone's parents were Neapolitan prevented him from being a true member of the Mafia, which was then open only to Sicilians.

Both of Capone's parents were born in Naples, but he was born in Brooklyn. At age 20 or 21, he got into trouble with an Irish gang, the White Handers, and his godfather, Frankie Yale, sent him to Chicago to work for Johnny Torrio and Jake (Greasy Thumb) Guzik, who managed a string of bars and whorehouses for Torrio's uncle, Big Jim Colosimo. After Prohibition was declared, Big Jim was murdered (by Yale, on contract) and Torrio became Chicago's biggest (but not the only) booze merchant and gang leader. Capone worked (not gunned) his way to become Torrio's right-hand man. The only murder Capone ever committed in Chicago with his own hands was of another gangster who had insulted Guzik, whom Capone worshipped. (The three guys he baseball-batted at a dinner--Scalise, Anselmi and Giunta--were still alive when Capone got through with them; his bodyguards then shot them to death.) Torrio was nearly assassinated by Hymie (the Polack) Weiss, leader of the Northside Gang. After Torrio recovered, he went to jail on a booze rap that was set up by Weiss's predecessor, Dion O'Banion, whom Torrio and Capone had arranged to be assassinated (Yale again). That's when Capone took over the Chicago Organization.
The Chicago Outfit under Torrio and Capone was not a Mafia family. There was a Mafia in Chicago. It was called the Unione Siciliano and it was like a civic group with muscle. Capone tried to dominate it by having his own, Sicilian-born associates installed as president. Sometimes he succeeded, sometimes he didn't, but it was always separate from his gang.

I just finished a report on Al Capone for school. His parents, Gabriele and Theresina, were born in Italy, along with Capone's four older brothers. He was the first in the family to be born in America.
