I just got done with "The Godfather" and I was looking in the back at the ads for other books...one caught my eye, "Murder Machine"...It's about some Mafia hitmen who kill for money and pleasure and I LOVE anything hitman related...I ordered it from B. Dalton today and I was just wondering if any of you have read it...If so, how is it?

No I haven't even heard of it, but how was the Godfather?? It's pretty much like the movie right (since I believe FFC got most of the movie from the book, except where the head of the horse should have been. I think he said it was just there when Waltz woke up & not under his covers, as he said in the DVD extras). Also, I didn't know Connie was in real-life, FFC's sister! WOW!

PS-plawrence, I tried Vice City yesterday & it was cool! I didn't do a mission, but I just drove around & shot people and had fun. Although I didn't hear any Scarface songs on the radio!

"Murder Machine" gives far more detail on the lives of its subjects than you'd get in nearly all other books about Mob-types. On the other hand, most of the people talked about are just common thugs and aren't all that interesting--especially Dominick Montiglio, the main subject. I thought it was pretty good for a while, but it didn't hold my interest over 446 pages.

Are you confusing me with howardstrenisgod on the above? He has a similar avatar to mine. I know we never talked about Vice City. I don't even know what is is (a video game, I guess?)

Murder Machine by Gene Mustain and Jerry Capeci

"They were the DeMeo gang-the most deadly hit men in organized crime. Their mafia higher-ups came to know, use, and ultimately fear them as the Murder Machine. They killed for profit and for pleasure, following cold-blooded plans and wild whims, from the mean streets of New York to the Flordia Gold Coast, and from coast to coast. Now complete with the personal revelations of one of the key players, This is the savage story that leaves no corpse unturned in its terrifying telling."

I copied of the back of my book. I thought it was a really good book.

Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition.
Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.

I just finished "For the Sins of My Father" by Albert DeMeo, Roy's son. It's a pretty good memoir about NY Mafia life in the 60's.

PS-howardstern, what I said about GFA Vice City was directed towards you!

Well, GTA:VC I probably play for an average of 20-40 hours a week. I love it...can't get enough of it, in fact. I wish they had more Scarface songs on the radio, but they were all in GTA3! They would have been perfect here!

The Godfather was a fabulous book. The movies really follow the book wonderfully. I wish they would have incorporated more about Johnny Fontane and Nino Valenti in the movie though...it also would have been nice to see some action between the doctor Jules and Sonny's little fuck-toy (you gotta read the book, man )!

Actually about half way through of it. I really like it, it does hold your interest but I agree with Turnbull. The characters aren't that interesting but to me it's worth reading. It flows well. Enjoy.

I think I heard something about the GF book but I wasn't sure so I wanted to ask you guys first. Does the book have the story for GF I & II in it, or is it just GF I?

The storyline covers the GF storyline and young Vito's parts from GFII plus his rise as a Don in the 30's. Many of the GFIV writers in the boards are using it as part of their scripts(eg. Ricardo, Pherdy and me ).
Oh, and yes Talia Shire is FFC's sister, Nicolas Cage is a nephew I think. And another kin(I think Shire's son) appeared in the movie Rushmore. Shire was Adriana in the Rocky saga.

Giorgio Luigi Gambino.
