Hey, I am a big fan of Mafia movies that actually happened(like Goodfellas). I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for another one. I am just kind of curious what you people would think. It could be any event, as long as it happened, and it still hasn't been made into a movie. Please post your ideas, I am interested.

I think they should definately make one about the Banana Wars. Also another one that starts at the Castellammarese War and goes through the murders of Massiera and Maranzano, and ends with the forming of the National Crime Syndicate and the 5 Families.

I would LOVE to see a movie come out that would show just how mixed up with gangsters old Papa Joe Kennedy REALLY was from the 1930's thru the time of JFK'S election as President.

An excellent movie was made about the Bananna Wars: "Honor Thy Father," starring Joseph Bologna as Bill Bonanno, Raf Vallone as Joe Bonanno, and Brenda Vaccaro as Bill's wife, Rosalie. The Castellemmarese Wars were touched on (not very well) in "Gangsters" and in "The Valachi Papers."

I too would love to see a good new Capone film with James as Capone, him and Robert De'Niro are the only 2 mob actors I could see playing a good Capone, since we already saw Rob do so in The Untouchables I think its James turn . By the way...what are some real GOOD Capone movies already out, Ive heard of a couple but which ones are actually WORTH watching and could even come close to touching movies like a bronx tale or goodfellas. (I wont mention The Godfather cause I doubt any could come close to that).

Hi,
A number of good Capone pictures are:

1)The St. Valentines Day Massacre-Jason Robards played him.

2) Al Capone-Rod Steiger played him.

I was thinking about another Capone movie. Also, something maybe about the Philadelphia Mob in the late 70's and early 80's. Perhaps something like Angelo Bruno to Nicky Scarfo. I would like to see something about Atlantic City. I have never seen a movie that really had to do with this time period in the Philadelphia mob, and I think it could be made into a really good movie.

Hi,
What about a movie dealing with the Pizza Connection? Donnie Brasco touched on it but didn't elaborate.

Yes, indeed, Paul! "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" was excellent. But the absolute best movie Capone was Steiger in "Al Capone," a not-very-good B movie that contains one of his greatest performances. Well worth watching for him alone. He was fantastic! Paul Muni was excellent in "Scarface," which was based on Capone, and Edward G. Robinson made his bones in "Little Caesar," who also was a Capone-like character.

I'd really like to see a modern movie about Capone. I don't know if James Gandolfini would be interested.

If another Capone movie was made, it would have to be really good. Perhaps, maybe even a little unique. There are already some good Capone movies out there, a new one would have to be good enough to compete with them.

Neat, it would certainly be great if there were a quality film on Capone with a unique spin. I can think of two that weren't high quality. One was "Dillinger and Capone," with Martin Sheen, a fine actor who got stuck in a ridiculous plot about how Dillinger actually survived his shooting by the FBI and was taken in by Capone to do a dirty deed much later. The other was "Capone's Brother," another el-stinko with Eric Roberts and Titus Welliver, about Capone's real-life brother, Vincenzo, who left the family and became a Prohibition agent (!!) named Richard (Two-Gun) Hart, later reconciled with Al. This is actually a true story but the movie stank, imhop.

I just think, that if they made another one, it would have to be much better than what is out there. Not all are that bad, even if a few are. Anyway, if the next Capone film wasn't good, I would probably just lose hope that there will ever be a great Capone movie. When I say great, I mean it. We need a Capone movie that is worth seeing over and over again. Besides, it was an interesting time period, it could be done.

Hi,
The last actor to portray Capone was Bill Forsyth who also played Gravano in Gotti. He was Al Capone in the updated TV series The Untouchables. Tom Amandes was Ness and John Rys-Davies was Malone.

I'd agree to wnting a GOOD one. I read that those old Capone films from back in the '40s, early 50s, etc actually had Capones name pranounced as "Caponi".

I am guessing that Capone's name was technically pronounced Caponi as I believe Don Corleone's was as well. I think probably Americans pronounce it the exact way it was spelled and it just "stuck".

does anyone agree with me..i would love to see another scorsese picture starring the biggest "gangsta actors"....pesci , deniro, and pacino all in one mother of all mafia movies movie....not sure what family it would be portraying but i just think they are all great...i love pesci being shown as a psychotic little tuff guy quick to pull the trigger, pacino (nuff said), and deniro is awesome, he has a cool way of coming across the screen in a low key kinda way, i dunno, just seemed like that in goodfellas...

That was a pretty good one, but Joseph Bologna didn't seem to me like the stereotypical "mob type". Being younger and more foolhardy than now, I let that bug me into not enjoying the movie as I probably would if I saw it now. I guess the real Bill B. was in fact most likely not the "type", especially after reading the book.

Yeah, I believe it be ultracool to have an all-star cast mafia film. People are curious as to what's happened to Pesci though. I think I remember him last in...I think Lethal Weapon 4 and that Gone Fishing one with Danny Glover. Didn't see either of them. MAybe the film could sort of be like Goodfelas and go over several generations or something.

I think the only problem with doing another Capone movie is that so much is already known about him that there isn't a new or fresh sotry to tell. You could touch on his early life after the gang era in New York when he tried to be a legitimate bookeeper in Baltimore, but that just isn't that interesting.

We took a cruise out of Miami last year and his Miami home is on the island that is across from the cruise docks. We got onto the island (you have to pass through a gate, but that wasn't that hard) You can't see much, but it is still kind of neat to see the house.

I would personally like to see a film based on the true events surrounding Death Row Records, Suge Knight, and the murders of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG. I believe there is a sucessful story line on the records label that would be worth watching and may even become a classic if done right.

All he had going to him was total loyalty to his father. But he had neither the force nor the clout to be a true successor. But he was a college grad, intelligent, and he makes for a somewhat sympatico figure (if you get by all the BS he puts out about his father).

Hey man, you're asking for too much. Why not add Gandolfini, Ray Liotta and a whole other bunch of these category actors to it?
Don't we already have a mother of all mafia movies?

But still, your idea is like seeing the perfect woman you know you're never gonna get.

If so, then use the biggest mafia-event ever to make it about that. Castellamarese Wars, Luciano-Maranzano-Maserria-Genovese-Anastasia, or maybe pre-Masserria, or maybe a 60's story about the Gambino's and Genovese's...

but still, you're asking too much. Besides, won't all of these actors get a little tired playing the same roles over and over again? And won't the audience get tired of all these Scorsese-DeNiro-Pesci collaborations?
