I picked up Bill Bonannos book today 'Bound By Honor' and was intrigued to read on the sleeve that the Michael Corleone character from the Godfather was said to have been modelled on Bill Bonanno.! I cant wait to read this one

Thank God for Libraries! It's pretty coincidental I took it out 2 days before Joe Banans died RIP.
True, Puzo inventedf the term Godfather. Since then Bonanno has claimed his father was the first Godfather in 1933? Please! They didn't even use the term until AFTER the book came out, they were big fans of Puzo. Agent O'Brien's book about Paul Castellano is called Fall of The Godfather! They're NOT Godfathers.
Puzo used the term Godfather to mean loosely- Someone who takes care of another persons children- A Don.
Vito took car eof his own Godchildren, and he helped all his friend sand people from the neighborhood, he was EVERYBODY's Godfather!
Young Vito Corleone is said to be a rip off of Joe Bonanno coming to America. The Bonanno movie (Bonanno: A GODFATHER's  Story) bites Gf2 with young Joe.
Bill Bonanno gives the same bull his father does.
He is NOT Michael Corleone.
Joe Boanno LIKE Vito Corleone was the top Don, and mediator betwen othe Families, Bill Bonanno like Michael Corleone was his son who wanted to go straight but had to take over when his father was in trouble. That's all, then Bill moved to Arizona like Mike moved to Tahoe.
Bill Bonanno has dedicated himself to embellishing the myth that his father was "a man of honor," probably to cover up Bill's failures in his own life. A somewhat less self-serving version of Bonanno pere et fils is told in Gay Talese's book, "Honor Thy Father," which is a good (but overly sympathetic) read. If you ever get a chance to view the made-for-TV movie based on "Honor Thy Father," don't miss it. Stars Joseph Bologna as Bill and the great Raf Vallone as Joe B. Excellent.
