The REAL reason he is not in the third one is because of money. They wouldn't pay him as much as he wanted so he wouldn't sign on.

As far as them addressing it in the movie I believe all they say is that Tom isn't the consigliere anymore.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Michael says to Harrison that "hagan" was a great lawyer.

DonMike was right, the real reason is that Duvall wanted equal billing as Pacino and twice what they paid him for the original one (Pacino was getting paid 4 times what he got on hte original)They didnt give Duvall what he wanted frown
As for Tom the only line telling us he even existed was when Mike was taling to his son Andrew and says "His father didnt live to see him ordained...." Thats it. frown
BTW- welcome to the boards.

The biggest mistake in GFIII was not the story line of Immobiliare and the Vatican bank, it wasn't Sophia Coppola as Mary Corleone ... IT WAS George Hamilton as BJ Harrison instead of bringing back Robert Duvall as Tom Hagen. Whattsa matter with you FFC? I think your brain is going soft!

The only mention of Tom was:

MICHAEL (to Harrison)
His father was a great lawyer.
HARRISON
I know…
MICHAEL
Didn’t live to see him ordained. I did. You ever seen one of those?

You goofed FFC!
