Hi all,

I was watching tv today and I saw that guy called Deano Clavet imitating the Don. He's known here more for his boxing career than for his acting but he also played in some movies.

Here's a small video (Quicktime):

Deano Clavet - Godfather

Though it would be cool to share it...

The hands-down best Don Corleone imitation I ever saw was by Anthony Hopkins, on A&E's 2-hour bio of Brando. Hopkins just sorta tossed it off, but he was incredible. I guess I shouldn't be surprised: he's a great actor, and one of a great actor's skills is to be a great mimic. (Anyone else here see Hopkins do Vito?)
BTW: More than a decade ago, "Spartacus" was being restored for home video. They decided to add a scene with Laurence Olivier and Tony Curtis in a bath that had been cut from the theatrical release because it was deemed too overtly "gay" for the era. But the soundtrack from the original cut scene was messed up. Curtis was around to redo his lines, but Olivier was dead. The studio hired Hopkins to do Olivier's voice!

Yes, if you're referring to the bath scene with Curtis.

Yes Turnbull, Hopkins did an excellent impression of Brando. If you closed your eyes you would have definately though that Brando was talking.

As for the Spartacus scene with Olivier and Curtis, I never knew that Hopkins did the voice over! Interesting! And Spartacus, next to GFI and II is probably my favorite movie.
The scene you are reffering to is when Antoninas is giving a bath to Olivier and Olivier asks him about liking grapes or olives, something to that effect, right? Some really great actors in Spartacus! Olivier, Curtis, Simmons, Douglas, Ireland, Foch and a really great piece of acting by both Laughton and Ustinov! Definatley a Classic Movie!

Don Cardi cool

Don Cardi cool

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.
