Is Fools Die, written based on himself? Because i just got done reading Fools die and ive been doing research about Puzo and it seems that all the stuff in Fools Die are closly related to his life. What your guys take on Fools Die?

That's what I thought, although I haven't finished it. There are some differences though. He wasn't an orphan and he had several siblings. Also Mario Puzo's third book was he one that earned him critical acclaim. Merlyn's second book was the one that made him famous. I seemed to notice that a lot of characters like Merlyn, and Mosca from Dark Arena, are very similar to Puzo and have shared some of the same experiences. There are always differences though.
It was all familiar to him, the farewells to time and place and memory, and he felt no sorrow, no desolation, that finally there was no one, no human being to speed him on his way, only the wind which swept across the ruined continent he could never leave.

I think this could only be attributed to a case of "you write what you know". Puzo wrote what he knew of, and, using his literary genius, changed it in such a way as to pull you in to his own world. Very amuzing.
If I knew what I was doing, I wouldn't have time for message boards.
