Thanks for the heads-up, I added it to the listings...

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

People keep telling me, including Troy Anderson(who saw it last week) that THE DEPARTED rocks.

Hell, Troy even has the gaul to say that its Marty's best since GOODFELLAS. That's ignoring CASINO, AGE OF INNOCENCE, etc.

Either way, most interestingly, an Oscar guru that's CORRECTLY...I mean CORRECTLY...picked the Best Picture and Director winners since 1975, including GLADIATOR, CRASH, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, Roman fucking Polanski, you name it.....and his pick for Best Director for 2006?

Martin Scorsese for THE DEPARTED.

Let's hope Marty finally gets his damn Oscar, and lets hope the movie is damn worthy of it(which if my knowledgeable friends are correct, then it wipes its ass with the Oscar bait historical expensive epics like AVIATOR and GANGS OF NEW YORK)

After seeing that interview, I realized that Scorsese should do a documentary on the "great" cartoons. Hell, I would pay to see it.

If Scorsese wins an Oscar, he should hang himself. Has he become that bad?

I agree. He needs to make something in the mold of Mean Streets or The King of Comedy again. Oscars are mainly given to loud, boisterous pieces of filmed theatre.

Perhaps if he were to win Best Picture, but I could see him winning a Best Director oscar and still keeping his dignity.

From what I've read, it appears to be a "return" of sorts to his way of filmmaking that started with "Mean Streets". I don't think it's Oscar bait, but it just happens to be really popular with the critics this year.

Man, THE DEPARTED is back to the Scorsese days of people fighting on the streets, from MEAN STREETS to GOODFELLAS to CASINO. He's simply back, albeit apparently doing something new with the material.

Because really, people I know that love Scorsese's work, are going batshit for THE DEPARTED. They keep telling me that its the return of the "Marty" that got them to dig the guy's work in the first place.

Does anybody have a link of his appearance on Conan?

I'm excited for his movie! I'm working tomorrow night at the theatre and I'm going to put it on at midnight after the shows are finished to get a little sneak preview.
