I had a great getaway this weekend with my wife and her sister and husband. Whe traveled to Tunaca, Mississippi and had great fun at the Hilton Resort it was a great time and a great establishment. I love to go to the Casino and live out all my gangster fantasies. I usually play blackjack and I walked away winning $500 dollars. So all in all it was a great time. Anybody else have any good stories from their trips to the Casino? Ace

Welcome, Ace! Right now, my wife and I are in our second home in Prescott, AZ. Most of the land here is owned by the Yavapai Tribe, so there are two casinos in town. One, in a resort that the Indians own, is ok as far as it goes (just slots). The other, across the street, has bj and poker and is as close to being a Superfund Site as anything you'll see outside of our other state, New Jersey. :p On the other hand, we're only a four-hour drive from Vegas. We visited an old friend in Henderson (just outside of Vegas) last winter--hit all the Henderson casinos (pretty new, pretty nice). We also went to the newest on the Vegas Strip: the Wynn. This is a real high-end venue. All the fanciest shops and restaurants: Gucci, Versaci, Bouley, Tiffany, etc. And that brings me to my point: only a couple of decades ago, Vegas was thought of as a tawdry paen to lowbrow tastes. But if there's one aspect of American democracy that never fails, it's this: money talks--and it knows no class boundaries. And since tons of money finds its way to Vegas, that's where you'll now find the "highbrow" shops and restaurants. You don't have to live in New York or Paris--New York and Paris have come to Nevada, following the money.

I can't think casino and not think Vegas. We have some Indian casinos here as well, and they're ok, but nothing compares to Vegas. As far as casino stories..I'd like to say how I almost won a fortune, but I'm not a big time gambler. I play mostly video poker or roulette and love the entire atmosphere of Vegas. I've told this before, but one thing I will NEVER forget happened about 10 yrs ago. My brother was visiting from Michigan and we flew to Vegas for a couple days. I happened to be walking around on my own checking things out, gambling, etc. I headed back to my hotel (The Sahara), press the elevator button, the door opens, and what do I see but a butt-naked guy come out. Imagine my shock, not to mention those around me. I was thankful I wasn't already on the elevator or I'd really had freaked out. Anyway, the guy, who did look a bit dazed and confused, walks out of the elevator to the front desk, holding his hands over his unmentionables. Everyone turned and stared as he talked to the front desk, turned and came back on the elevator. I could not believe security (or someone) didn't do anything. True story! I went back to my room cracking up telling my brother who couldn't believe it. I assume this guy literally lost his shirt in Vegas. TIS And Turi, wow!!! You lost your shoes????

Great stories everyone, and thank you for the welcome Turnbull. Like I said last weekend I went to Tunaca,Mississippi. I heard someone say while I was there that Tunanca was much like the old Vegas, becuase its in the middle of nowhere and there are no real big attractions except for the Casinos and hotels. All there really is to do in Tunaca county is gamble. Up here where I live (St. Louis area) we have the boats. The two best are the Ameristar and the Harrah's they are pretty fun but I woul dhave to say I enjoyed myself in Tunaca a little more. I hate to say but I have not yet made it to Vegas. My wife and her family have, though. We are starting up the plans for a trip there in the next two summers when are daughter and niece get a little older. Ace

Ace, I hope you do make it to Vegas. Everyone should go once. Even if you're not a gambler, it is worth seeing. They have lots of shops, lots of food and there are some great Vegas shows as well. Also some of their lounge shows are also good. Sometimes I'll catch a good lounge act, which gives a little break from the gambling. I know of nowhere else that you can walk down the street with a drink in your hand. Anything goes. TIS Btw, I forgot to welcome you! Welcome to the BB!
