Post what you're listening to and how you feel about it from time to time.

"Epic" - Faith No More

Great song. Good guitar work - GREAT solos.
UNREAL outro. The piano melody is beautiful.
One of the greatest outros ever IMO.

Nice hook. The best thing about this song has to be the overall vibe. It rocks, but it also sounds pretty beautiful at the same time.

I highly recommend it.

You mean like the album proview at the film board, but with songs too? This was the last album I listened to beginning to end.

Pornography - (The Cure;1982;UK)
The Cure's fourth album, which is also their darkest and most pessimistic.
Robert Smith's fascinating lyrics are given that boost in dimension with the entrancing music. Musically the masterwork of the album is "The Figurehead" which contains some of Smith's most meticulous and mysterious writing. The whole album paints a dark portrait of misery that is perfectly blended by the music, lyrics, and Smith's great vocals. This is The Cure's best album along with Disintegration.

NP: "Cemetery Gates" - Pantera

Well, songs instead. But I guess you can post albums as well. Unless you want to make a separate thread.

"Down in a Hole" - Alice in Chains

Lyrically, this is probably Alice in Chains' best work,
and IMO, one of the finest songs ever written.
This song is amazing, especially the way the
melody and Staley's haunting vocals match the lyrics.
It always moves me when I hear it.

The unplugged and heavy version of Down in a Hole are among my favorites when it comes to music.

"Needle in the Hay" - Elliott Smith

Very mellow song, made wonderful
by Smith's soothing vocals.

"Cocaine" - Eric Clapton

Catchy song with a cool guitar riff.
I enjoy singing along to this.

"Layla (acoustic)" - Eric Clapton

I enjoy this version a lot better
than the Derek and the Dominoes version,
mainly because Clapton uses a more desperate
tone that fits better with the lyrics.

I can think of 3 songs that I never get tired of after nearly 2 years of listening:

Achilles Last Stand (Led Zeppelin)
Since I've Been Loving You (Led Zeppelin)
Venus in Furs (The Velvet Underground)

I guess these would be my 5-star songs.

"Il cielo in una stanza"
Mina

Great italian song off the Goodfellas soundtrack. It's the one that plays when the camera slowly tracks down the table towards Henry when he says "shitty jobs for bum paychecks." It also includes the great little strings crescendo that plays when DeNiro gets out of his seat and quickly stubs his cigarette when he sees Frenchy has entered. A great song in its own respect, but even better because of its association with Goodfellas.

"Everybody Knows" - Leonard Cohen

Depressing as SHIT, but still an amazing song.
Cohen's deep, dark voice gives it power, and makes
the song extremely enjoyable.

"Hallowed be thy Name" - Iron Maiden

Great guitar work, nice vocals.
The song starts off slow and gradually
picks up speed as it goes on. Awesome
guitar solo towards the end.

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

I usaully listen to this about twice a year.
Great album for just the fact that Paul McCartney says it inspired Sgt Pepper.

Not a typical Beach Boys surfer, car, girls record but ground breaking.

Brian Wilson the Mozart of pop

"Enter Sandman" - Metallica

This is Metallica's most popular song,
and probably my favorite of theirs. I
compare this to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit
because I believe that along with this song,
that one has become so generally accepted
as overrated, that it has now become underrated.

I'll never see how "Enter Sandman" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" are underrated because less then five people I know of have considered them overrated.
