Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

Francis Ford Coppola killed them both.

Clemenza was killed before Part II because he couldn't come to terms with the producers. Tom Hagen was killed before Part III for the same reason. The "how did they die" was (IMO) purposely left vague in an attempt to belittle their characters' worth to the Trilogy.

I'd agree with you about Hagen's death, but Clemenza's was at least to some extent woven into the plot.

If you call that a weave I have a toupee to sell ya.

Everything was done rush-rush and they (the producers) took the cheapest way out by quickly writing in Pentangeli's character with only one small mention about Clemenza.

And Talia Shire has brought legal action to be included in the film, too. Her suit (hirsute) is asking that she be named the star, but her brother wigged out.

These jokes are getting weakhair and weakhair as we go along.

Thair certainly not on the cutting edge, so I'm done combing through my joke books to find any more.

Hey.... you started it by splitting hairs about Clemenza, but I'm willing to put a permanent end to this.

Puzo and FFC used real life Mafia families, etc. on which to model their novel and scripts, respectively. Clemenza was probably Joe Profaci, an ally of the Bonanno family which, I think, was the main model for the Corleone family. The Rosato brothers were probably based on the Gallo brothers who were part of the Profaci family. Somewhere in there is also Joe Magliocco who was a staunch capo under Profaci and took over the family when Profaci had his heart attack and died.
