I'm thinking. This would be a good side business. :p There are several people asking for this. What do ya think DC? With labor costs, shipping/handling and such. Seriously, I do know how you feel. Like I said in the other thread, it was a killer waiting sooooo long for it to come on video. I am so glad I got HBO (and the wait is still over a year  ) Good luck TIS

HBO is what, $10-15/month? That's about $3/episode, much less than you'd pay for copies - plus, you get all the other shows/movies. And if you have digital cable, you can watch the episodes whenever you want... :p

I guess it depends on what Cable company you have. I have Adelphia, and at first it was about 10/15 more a month. Then they supposedly had some kind of "change", where you had to buy packages (Gold, Platinum, Silver or whatever). They told me I could no longer get just HBO, but rather one of these packages. I have the "Silver" package including cable, HBO and other stations I don't even watch, along with high speed internet. Before I got the high speed thru adelphia, I just had extended cable and HBO for about $60. a month. Now I am paying $125. per month. When I move, I'm dumping adelphia. TIS Oh, and while I'm in the mood to bitch about Adelphia, more than once while I am watching a favorite show, I suddenly get subtitles in Spanish on the screen. One time in the middle of Desperate Housewives, the dialogue all of a sudden changed, and everyone was speaking Spanish. Talk about pissed. Plus I get computer outages at least once a week. Ok, I'm done bitching.

Considering it costs less than $1 per blank disc, and depending on whether you can borrow from your library (free) or rent each disc from Netflix or Blockbuster, and the initial price of a burner, it would be cheaper in the long run. This is especially true since you cannot save the Sopranos in digital quality anymore - I've heard HBO is instituting some new copy protection so that it only is stored on your DVR/Tivo for 10 days, and automatically erases itself, and it also prevents you from making analog copies onto VHS or digital copies to blank DVD's. I think you still could just tape them to your VHS right from the TV signal, but the quality would be analog and you'd need more tapes than if you burned it 1:1 quality on blank DVD's. I've got all 5 seasons now (except #5 which I purchased) in my DVD library, 1-4 are burned, and it probably cost me $60 ($50 for the burner, and $10 for the 50-pack spindle of DVD's).

The problem with copying rented DVDs is that most of them won't fit on a blank w/o added compression, or splitting them up to 2 discs, and/or removing all the extras. DVD burners and blanks must've come way down in price! I only use Maxell blanks after countless nightmares with cheapy blanks, and those are still $13/box of 10. When I run out of the case I have, I'll try the spindled Maxells ($30 for 50). I haven't burned anything in a while, tho... I got DVR through Comcast in September when The Saga aired, and I have yet to bring it in here to see if I can extract them. My settings are to keep everything until I erase them (mine is at least half-full with Family Guy episodes right now) - so I don't know how they can prevent that just for one show. Guess I should see if I can dump things to the computer soon....! Speaking of Comcast, my monthly bill is up to $155 now for Digital Gold (w/ HBO & Showtime), Internet, and DVR. What a racket! But at least my Internet hardly ever goes out

And they were never more than 5 minutes long. I am extremely pleased with Dish Network. I have the EVERYTHING package with 2 of the boxes having DVRs out of the 5 boxes that I have. The same exact package with Time Warner Cable would cost me about $40 more a month than I am currently paying with Dish Network! Don Cardi How many tv's do you have? I have direct tv cuz they don't have cable service where I live.

I dream in widescreen.
