What are you all doing for Valentines Day? What do you usually buy for your wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend? Or do you just go out for the evening? What's the best gift you ever got for V-day? How do you usually celebrate?

Valentines Day is an artificial, Hallmark Holiday, created by duplicitous, ill intentioned advertising executives to sell greeting cards, chocolates, jewelry, clothing and other stuff to generate $ and stimulate the economy. Although the "holiday" is based on an ancient Roman celebration the modern incarnation of it has little if anything to do with its ancestor. Valentine's Day is just another day for me...Lol! Lol! At least I'm not bitter or anything.

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies!

This year I bought her a diamond necklace. And on Valentine's Day, like every year, I will send her a dozen roses.

Tha man that I am the insignificant other to will get me the same thing he has every year for the last 7 years --- absolutely nothing. I should take Dr. Phil's advice and kick him to the curb. Oh, well, love is strange.

DMC showed his romantic side this year and got Flame a "pajama gram" with rose bath soaps and a rose quartz (?) heart. It's a combined valentine's/anniversary gift.

Ain't I just the cutest?

Enzo, Yup, it it that easy to tell? Ah....I've got some things in the works but it's been pretty dry for me for the last little while if you know what I mean. Women say they want a guy who can make them laugh, bullshit. They say looks aren't important, bullshit. They say they don't care about money that's a huge, elephant, asteroid, gorrilla sized piece of bullshit, they say...well I could go on but I won't. That's why if you find a woman who's hot and doesn't care about you always having to be "on" all the time, doesn't care too much about looks, doesn't care too much about money and so on you should hang on to her through thick and thin for dear life, if she exists that is. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic... :p

As in the past few years I'll have a box of chocolates & a small gift for my daughter...the only sweetheart I need or want. Maybe I'll take her out to dinner because any excuse to go out to dinner works for me.

My sister usually bakes a big cheesecake with strawberries for the family but her oven is broken this year so she'll either forego the event or come over & use mine (which I have not invited her to do, she just proclaimed it a possible alternative).

I have not yet been informed of her final decision.

Happy Valentine's Day, EVERYONE!!

Especially you, Don Jasani!!!

i wish i had someone to spend valentines with this year. my ex of six years and i broke up in june...so it'll be the first valentines day in a long time that im not with her. i think it'll definatly be weird. especially knowing she'll have her new boyfriend(billy) with her.

Mr. Soprano, don't feel bad, get even. I can call some people that can take care of this "billy" character free of charge if you want. Take it as a favour, but some day and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me..

Mr. Babe and I swear that we won't get each other anything, and then we do. The last few years we've been buying each other something for the house that we want. This year it's a big screen TV that is, ironically, being delivered on Valentine's Day.

DMC - Yes, you are the cutest, although posting it here has sort of killed the surprise, hasn't it???

As cruel, cynical, sarcastic, and skeptical as I am, it may be hard for some of you to believe that I can also be very romantic when the mood overtakes me.

Usually dinner at a favorite restaurant of ours where we are pretty good customers, so I can get the cute little round table in the corner where we can sit sort of next to each other instead of across the table.

I also shoot over there in the afternoon with flowers, and the owner puts them on the table for me, so they are there when we arrive. Then she takes them home.

BTW, the "flowers-on-the-table-when-you-get-there" is a very effective move, gentlemen. I suggest that you try it some time.

She got it already

Since she works Sun-Tuesday we don't see each other so I gave it to her on Friday (well that wasn't the plan entirely it was supposed to be given on Thursday (the 16th) because I choose 1 week shipping, it was some outrageous amount to have it shipped by valentines day and the $$ just ins't there for that and it wound up being shipped in 2 days )

Either he's a great joker, or someone hacked into his account, I think.

Ya reckon? I'm not sure. It's like finding out your favourite wrestler was once a woman, or something.

You have a point.

Well, now I expect him to show this mushy, emotional side all the time...then we'll see if he ever exposes it again.

I know, I'm a bit shocked by the "romantic PL" too.

We always say we're not going to celebrate it either, but we always do, somehow. My boyfriend thankfully has never given me anything gross like a teddy bear or anything heart-shaped... which is why I'm still with him. :p He usually gets me REALLY unromantic things... well they're romantic to me, but not in a conventional way. Like last year was like the only year that I didn't have season tickets to the Lakers, so he got us tickets to like the next two games after Valentine's Day. He also gets me jewelry every year, which I guess is pretty cliche, but always appreciated, right?

But my favorite was the year before... he got me a book about the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in addition to the jewelry, which was seriously the coolest, most apropos Valentine's gift EVER. I was cracking up. And it was a good book!

It's hard for me to shop for guys (like any girl) but I've been pretty good so far... like last year, I got him an iPod after his broke. You have no idea how excited I was when he told me that his broke and he didn't have a warranty on it or anything... I was like YESSS now I know what I can get him!

And the funny thing is, every year we talk about what a lame holiday it is, but we still get each other stuff. But in our defense, we get each other presents all the time, even when there's no occasion. So it's not that different. And we don't do anything special on that day that's any different from the usual. Phew!
