Please, please, please would some of you look at my post in the Cars in the Movie topic and tell me if I am just imaging the Pink House? It's driving me nuts.

I just watched the scene with Clemenza and Michael returning to the house that you were referring to and I failed to see any pink house or abnormalities in the scene at all.

Why medium are you watching the movie on (DVD, VHS, TV special...)?

No, no. Reread my post. The pink house shows up in GFII when Pentangeli returns to his house in the snow to meet with Michael.

I just rewatched that scene in Part II and I see what you're talking about. The background is definitely a bit different from Part I. The wall is gone. Are you referring to that slightly red tainted house in the far background when the camera pans to Pentangeli's side?

I think this is the scene in question. IF it is, it can be explained that a few years have passed since Part I was done (and the last time we saw the mall) and its possible that Clemenza or Pentangeli made some changes (to the mall).

Oh wait, so the house that Pentangeli was living in, was the same house in GFI? The same house where they had Connie's wedding? I thought they sold that house after Vito died?

In the book, they sold the compound after Vito died and Mike moved the family to Las Vegas. The scene near the end of GF I when Connie accuses Michael of killing Carlo shows the movers doing their thing in the backround. But neither the novel or the film mentions that it was sold to Clemmenza.

They took some liberties in GF II, though. In the scene where Mike confronts Pentangelli ("In my home....in my bedroom, where my wife sleeps..."), Michael comments on how happy he was that the house "never went to strangers. First Clemenza,...." and talks about where in the room his father's desk was located and how he learned many things in that room ("Keep your friends close and your enemies closer").

Michael infers that first, Clemenza baught the house, the after Pete dies, Frankie took it over. Although, like plaw said, the book nor the movies (save for that one line) tells us anything about it.

Thanks Plaw and Don Sonny - I always thought THAT house was like the Corleones' first house - it's a smaller, modest house and I just assumed that was like their "first" real house, like when the kids were littel then later moved to the compound house. But whatever!
