In Godfather 1, does anyone know the years/makes of the cars that were used?

Especially the one that Santino drives right before the causeway shooting.

If anyone has a list of the years/makes of the cars in the whole movie or ANYTHING that can help me find them please let me know

Thank you

There was a thread about this a while ago, and someone came up with a bunch of info and pictures and stuff about the cars used in the movie. Type "cars" into the search thing, and you'll see it.

As Mickey (that guy with the great avatar) pointed out, there have been a few good discussions here about the types of cars used in the films. Turnbull and Johnny Ola are our resident experts on the subject, and here are a few links to some of the old threads:

One of the greatest strengths of the Trilogy is FFC's fanatical attention to detail--nowhere more evident than the cars he selected. Here are some (most) in GF:
The Don's limo is a '38 Cad. Woltz's car is a '40 Cad (a '37 Cord Westchester ragtop is visible in his driveway). Sollozzo drives a '40 Cad. Michael pulls up to the compound in what looks like a '41 Plymouth ragtop. Clemenza has a '46 Cad. In Sicily, Don Tomassino has a '36 Fiat, while Michael drives around in a '43 Alfa Romeo 6C2500. Sonny gets whacked in his '41 Lincoln Connie. Michael renews his courtship of Kay in his ’47 Cad. A ’47 Ford woody wagon is visible in that scene. In Vegas, Michael is driven to his hotel in a ’54 Chrysler Imperial limo. Back home, Michael pulls into the compound in his big ’54 Packard Patrician, preceded by a ’52 Buick. Barely visible behind the Packard is a ’54 DeSoto Firedome. At Vito's burial, we see ’52-’56 Cads and Packards visible. Barzini's car is a '55 Cad Series 75 limo. Clemenza makes a last buff of his ’55 Cad Series 62 before dispatching Stracci in the elevator. Carlo meets his end in what appears to be a '51 Plymouth Cambridge. You can see a red '55 Mercury Montclair parked in the background as the Plymouth moves forward.
The cars in GFII are even more authentic.

Related to this discussion we can determine when Sonny was shot at the tollbooth. It was never really clear before if he was killed in 1946, '47 or even '48. The picture (below) has a license plate from 1946. Of course this isn't proof positive of anything, but its interesting nonetheless.

Since ya'll are answering questions about auto details in the film, maybe you can answer this question which I've asked before to no avail.

In GFI when the camera shoots looking across the driveway from Vito's house there's a wall across the driveway. However, in GFII, the wall has disappeared and in its place is a pinkish looking house. Remember the scene when Clemenza escorts Mike home from the hospital and he comments that that "it looks like a fortress around Here." That's where the pink house shows up. Did anyone see what I saw?

Let me clear up my mistake. The scene I refered to with Clemenza in it - in that scene the wall is there. It's in GFII that it disappears. Remeber the scene where Pentangelli comes home in the snow and Mike is waiting for him. The pink house shows up across the driveway when Pentangelli gets out of the car and says "we've got company." That's within the fist hour of GFII, isn't it?
